Apologies if this has already been discussed (I'm sure it has been in the past, but I didn't see it with a forum search), but wouldn't it be nice to have a 'Traveling to (whatever city/region)' forum section and have a dedicated area that people could list recommendations?

Traveling to (Athens, GA): We have one day there, where should we go?
Obvious answer/response: Creature Comforts, man. Here are there hours. Here's a link to see what's on tap:

    Etc.

Look in the regional forums. For example, the PNW forum has “Visiting Portland” and “Visiting Seattle” threads.

We tried creating a forum dedicated to this, but the feedback was overwhelming against it at the time. Basically, users wanted these threads kept within the regional forums vs. having to check another forum.

What if regional specific threads were linked in the places directory?

Example: pull up Indianapolis directory and get a list of places with their scores as normal, but include a link to an 'official' Indianapolis suggestions thread.

It seems like users will happily suggest places to visit in the forums, but not go through the trouble of reviewing it. Linking the two may help create a better vision of what is active/new/popular in each area, with the downside being an abundance of new threads, some of which may get little to no traffic.

As others indicated folks will post to their respective forum, post where they are going and locals will reply, seems easy enough.

As an aside: While I happily answer questions in the NW forum for visitors, it's the rare person who, after their visit, replies back on how things went. Did they find our suggestions helpful? What did they love/hate?

I'd like to see a "Trip Report" forum, like an airline site I read has: sorry, couldn't make the link work from my phone. Will post it tomorrow .

Perhaps BA could incorporate a "suggested places" section on the application, which encourages a review of a recently visited establishment...? It could be a subtle reminder that a user visited a place, but didn't contribute any thoughts on it. While I like the idea of trip reports (an idea brought to life on the hiking website - 14ers.com), it involves more typing. We may see more use if users are promoted for a short response a day or so after visiting an establishment.

Likewise, I've suggested a notification for when a place is added, but it sounds like with the change of the forums, they may be a little while coming. I occasionally wonder how many times a place has been submitted to be added, but the user never returned to review it having forgotten about it. Speaking of, I need to check and see if my last two submittals have gone through.

Great idea. I just did this last week for my visit to NYC. The advice provided really helped and I wanted to let them know along with providing more information for others who may travel to NYC.
