Forum malware?

    Anyone else get malware from this site? I had something pop up in the lower-right corner which said something like "Respect Beer Danieelol". It was really odd and looked out of place. It had a link which said something like "give feedback on this" which I foolishly clicked on and now I seem to have some very annoying malware which corrupts your hosts file. I'm fairly sure it originated from this site as a site-specific dialogue box opened up when I clicked to "give feedback".

    Am I the only one who this has happened to, because I'm surprised not to see any more threads about this.

    A program like Hijack This can possibly help. You will need to be careful with it though. I am a Cyber Security Analyst so I can try to help you eradicate the problem if you want.

    Malware will often ensure its persistence by changing registry entries for AV programs, changing hosts files so your AV won't update, etc. Until you have the situation resolved be very careful what you do. You don't want any potential data exfiltration programs on your computer, especially if you use online banking or have any personal information stored.
