I'm 6'0" 195lbs. Not big but definitely not small. I'm well seasoned in drinking beer and scotch. One night I drank a sixer of Two Hearted in an hour. I was a mess, throwing up, spinning, shivering, etc. Trying to drink 4 10.2% beers at once was asking for trouble.

I've had a lot of Stouts/Porters and I would have to say that breakfast stout is my favorite stout of all time. Every sip I take is just like "Damn that is so good". Founder's Porter is probably in my top 5 Stouts/Porters. Founder's is fantastic. It's crazy that other great Founder's beers are so hard to get and I pass over them so often simply because I've had it before.

Founders imo does make the best stouts/porters...... Breakfast Stout, KBS, CBS, IS, and Porter take the trophy vs anyone else.....

I was just at Founders Brewery in GR on Thursday. Had the All Day IPA, Pale Ale, Cerise,Oatmeal Stout, and brought home a growler of Empire Strikes Bitter....sadly I am now empty...must return to Founders

I had to drop back by this thread. I didn't have time to comment on your earlier "freak out". Check out the label:

It can easily be assumed by someone who now resides within Founders new areas of distribution, like the OP, that it is pronounced "Old Curmudgeon Ale." In fact, I know people that have been drinking Founders here in the Midwest for years that still call it Old Curmudgeon and the sun still rises every morning. Well-known craft breweries never actually use a beer's style on the label and as a play on words for the title of the brew...

Perhaps a few Curmudgeons can help soothe your "OC"...meaning "obsessive compulsive" tendencies.

I've guzzled this stuff myself from time to time nd although an entire 4-pack is out of my league I was still able to appreciate Curmudgeon without swirling it around in my yap before swallowing it. Thank God I knew (from reading BA reviews!) that it was actually called "Curmudgeon Old Ale" and not "Old Curmudgeon Ale" as the painfully intellectually inferior sometimes falsely believe. I for one sure am glad I'm so smart.

Guilty. I made the assumption that if it's poured into a glass it's for immediate consumption, like within an hour. I guess with this beer you could let it sit around in the glass for a few hours and drink it at room temperature but it seems unlikely that this was his intent. Why pour all four at once if you're going to stretch it out for hours? Why even have a 50 ounce beer mug? I still think he's pulling our collective legs.

Just found out for myself that Curmudgeon's Old Ale isn't a ***** in the armor. This stuff is fantastic!

Yep...the search continues. I will find a bad beer they put out, or I will get drunk trying.

I'm not a big fan of fruit beers, so I doubt I'll try any of theirs or call them poor (how can I call a beer bad when I readily admit the style isn't for me?). But so far, all the non fruit beers have been truly exceptional.

A distributor's rep at a tasting I went to called it Old Curmedgeon. His cohort also spent about 15 minutes trying to get foil off the neck of an Alesmith Speedway Stout. It was pretty awesome.
