Hey. Didn't like this beer. Have no probs with fruit beers at all. Like em from time to time. This one tastes fresh and all, but it's too damned sweet. Any mixology sorts have a recommendation? Would be awesome if they had sour drops that would mimic the sourness you get from sour beers. Anyway. Help. 14.99 for a 4-pack. Need to salvage. Cheap bastard.
I've never done it, but maybe try mixing with an oatmeal stout or a porter. I feel like you could get something decent tasting with that, chocolate and raspberry should work well together I'd think...
It feels like you can make some really good cocktails with this. Very sweet, would work great with some natural citrus (lime or lemon) with maybe a clear liquor.
Blend 2/3 double trouble and 1/3 rubaeus works well especially if at a establishment with both on draft. getting read to try with Sofie and Alagash white.
http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/lactic-acid-4-oz.html I believe different acids can work as well. You can read a little bit more here from a brewing perspective: http://www.themadfermentationist.com/2009/04/brewing-sour-beer-with-acid.html I have heard of people adding some of it at bottling time as well. Just use it lightly to begin with as you can always add more but never remove it.
Be really careful with 88% lactic acid. A few teaspoons added to 5 gallons makes a difference. I can't imagine adding it to a 12 ounce beer. Citric acid which is in granular form and available at the grocery store will provide tartness. Just a pinch or two will do for a 12 ounce beer and you can use it sparingly in cooking too.
I agree way too sweet. I tried it in an ipa (just a little bit) and it overpowered it. Founders porter worked great but once again just a little raspberry. I would honestly try an imperial stout. Pipeworks raspberry truffle comes to mind. Good luck, I wouldn't waste it either for the price. (luckily my fiance loved it)
Someone in the SW forum found a solution to your problem just the other day: Releases expected in July
I mixed it with a double trouble a few weeks ago at the taphouse here in gr. It mixes amazingly. Im guessing any kind of ipa would work.
Lemonade maybe, make a shandy out of it? Or just try to age it in a barrel, because that's the answer for everything. Or send it to me, I liked it.
