It doesn’t matter what any of you think. If it sells Founders will keep sellin it. If it doesn’t they won’t. They make good beer, but are clearly interested in maximizing profits.

I think Solid Gold is decent, but I bought a 15 pack of PC Pils today for 15.99 instead of the 13.99 Solid Gold. I need less expensive staple beers in my fridge and the 15 packs of All Day IPA, Mosaic Promise, and Azacca fit the bill at 15.99 over Solid Gold. Founders still wins with me.

They are not trying to appeal to people on this site with Solid Gold. They are trying to steal market share from BMC.

I was at my local distributor today and Founders Solid Gold was stacked about 6 feet high on the end cap between the craft aisles and the macro aisles. Anyone looking for case of Bud, Miller, Coors, etc. can't miss seeing Founders along the way. Perfect placement.

At what point does competing become stealing?

Our local distributor for Founders (Brown), sold the business to the local AB distributor (Pepin). Every other distributor in Florida put the Solid Gold in stores 6 weeks before Pepin. You don't find it stacked 6 feet high and on end caps around here. It was 2 months old before it reached the retail stores.

When someone gets convicted by a court of law.

    What's your point?

Founders was mentioned as stealing BMC's business. I don't believe it is. That's my point, and I aplogise for not being clear.

But people on this site--on this thread--are unfavorably comparing Solid Gold to BMC beers that cost half as much.

Seems more likely they're trying to get volume from folks who normally search for the upside-down bottle logo, but are tired of always paying $12 for four-packs. Thrifty craft-loyal drinkers?

I bought a 24 case of this at Meijer on Friday for $18. I drank them in between tasks of my yard work and have to say it is pretty good. It had more flavor than a light beer but was at the right ABV for me to continue chores around the house.

I finally tried one and thought it was pretty good. (Maybe it was the heat) I don’t even like AAL but this hit the spot.

It's a nice change of pace from 12% stouts and 10% ipas. Great new summer go-to in warm weather. CHEERS FOUNDERS!

Have you ever had Lionshead? It's an AAL brewed by The Lion Brewery here in PA. It's around $12/case after tax. I think it's a tasty AAL and I think it would beat out many AALs, if not all, you have noted in this thread and your blind tasting thread.

I have not. It is not available here, but I will keep an eye out for it when I pass through PA next time. Consider it noted. Thanks!

Unfortunately, it’s definitely not “brewed for us.” Some of you may have suggestions for a new slogan.

Finally got a chance to try Hamm's the other day. My preference is Solid Gold and it is not close.
