Founders - Azacca IPA

    Yeah, I am hoping that Founders widely distributes this beer so I can taste it too. I obtained 2 ounces of Azacca hops at the 2015 National Homebrewes Conference. I was contemplating homebrewing an all Azacca IPA but I am unsure of the flavor profile of this hop for me.

    Unlike other folks I am not a fan of Victory Hop Ranch since I perceive "dank" in that beer (which is hoped with Mosaic and Azacca hops). I have homebrewed with Mosaic several times and that hop has aromas/flavors of fruit (berry fruit) for my palate. My concern is that Azacca may equate to "dank" for my palate; I am not a fan of "dank".

    Yeah, Hop Ranch is one of my favorite beers. Love that dank, oniony, yet still citrusy smack in the face.

    Do you have an opinion on which hop is bringing those flavors to this beer?

    Have you tasted "dank, oniony" in any of the other Azacca hopped beers you have consumed?

    Can't wait. The last beer that they made that I enjoyed was MosAic Promise.

    Maybe now they can drop Centennial.

    I've had both, and while I liked the Alaskan, I thought the Founders version was clearly a notch above.

    As a Founders homeboy, I'm not thrilled. This summer's version was good--better than Centennial--but nothing special IMO. There were many other great trials that were more worthy of bottling, like:
    Das Radikal
    Festivus Wheat
    Berry Barry Roubaix
    Spruce Springsteen
    Porter in Da Moonlight
    **Honey Porter**
