While I don't agree with Binny's tactics at all... their general selection, at least the two by my house, makes it hard to say no when you get the craving to stop in. I have also found that generally all Binny's do not tell you the truth with regard to inventory over the phone, and they also seem to almost always have some rarer stuff in back that you need to ask specifically for in order to receive. Not saying I agree with it, but the methodology at least has been consistent in my experience.

I think this year's batch is better than last year's. I don't feel like there's any diminished bourbon at all. If anything in the flavor profile has changed for me, I think there's more of a vanilla presence.

Just had my first ever (on tap) so can't compare. But I'm really enjoying this. Very bourbony and buttery. I get the vanilla too.

Good point, I thought it was in there. I don't look at my profile page often. Updated now!

I'm drinking it now and honestly, I don't like.it. I'm not a liquor drinker at all and I really dislike that bourbon taste. I do enjoy tbhe non barrel version though.

Just grabbed a case and am really looking forward to trying it... I know what you are thinking, "a case and you have never had it?" That is correct, I however love 99% of scotch ales and seeing how this is regarded in the top I am hoping it pulls through....

I totally agree...as good if not better than ever. I thought the same thing about the vanilla being a bit more prominent--and I'm lovin' it!

We did a 3 year vertical last night. The body of the 2012 was noticeably thinner, but more of the bourbon flavor was there. The 2011 was very thick, and it had a ton of vanilla and oak notes. My buddy also picked up some pistacio notes, which I thought was interesting. The 2010 was also thick, but I was getting maples notes along with the vanilla from that one.

I loved them all, but my favorite was the 2010. What an outstanding beer.

I had my first 2012 tonight and I loved it. This is and always has been one of my favorites. Bourbon is strong but not overpowering, I would encourage people to seek it out.

Anyone know what barrels they use for this brew.

Did a blind comparison Sunday between '11 and '12. Friend and I both ID'd the vintages correctly. '11 definitely has more bourbon/barrel flavor. More carb too, which was interesting. Still a great beer, but the '11 borders on EPIC, IMO so a bit of a step backwards. That said--I'm thrilled I have 12 left.

My god '12 is beautiful. Vanilla, bourbon and scotch ale blended to perfection.

Less of a bourbon punch than last year's and also not as hot when fresh. More vanilla notes, thinner bodied and maybe a bit smoother out of the gate. Not bad (or even necessarily worse than last year). Just.... different.

We had precisely the same reaction to it last night.

This has been my favorite Founders beer every since I first had it a few years back, & we've bought a case or more each year (when it wasn't so stupidly hard to get). Took my first sip last night & thought, WTF? My first words were thin, my wife's first words were less bourbony. Still a good beer, but not in the same amazing stratosphere as the 2011 & 2010. I have one 2010 left & a couple 2011 left, so a mini-vert is in order soon.

One of those few cases where I'm actually glad this was so hard to find, otherwise I'd be stuck with a case of it.

Picked up a 4pk of it earlier. Paid 14 and change for it. Leaving to go and try and grab another. Only had it once but it was such a great beer
