Right now and for the next few months the barrel flavor is at it's fullest. If that's not your thing then you can age it but I would recommend that you drink them sooner than later. On the top of the case it says "drink fresh."

I have had BB anywhere from fresh to four, maybe five years old. I think it ages fairly well. When I say fairly well I do not mean to imply that it improves, I feel that it merely holds up okay. I drink mine as soon as I get it, there is little to no benefit for me to bother laying these down for any amount of time.

I'd say drink one and cellar one. From the ones I've had cellared over the years, it ages well. But it looks like others may have had different experience than me

Had a 13 vs12 last night. Very similar in character but as the aged had less carbonation some of the flavors came thru stronger ( think how flat Coke tastes sweeter). I preferred aged but I wouldn't consider it transformative.

i had an '11 recently that was a delicious vanilla bomb. i think it holds up, but i don't necessarily think it gets 'better'. guarantee that unless you wait more than a couple years whenever you drink it, it will be delicious.

Probably old news to many, but, it dropped in Porter County today.

Had a 2011 at Slows a few weeks ago that was really good. I liked it more than the 2012 I had @ the brewery this summer.

Was able to get a decent amount of this year's release, so I'm looking forward to trying some fresh & aged.

I did the same two nights ago, and thought that the '13 tasted a lot hotter. When I drink the '13 on its own, I'm fine with it. (I take my bourbon neat, so I don't really consider "heat" a bad thing.) But side by side, I much prefer the '12 and plan to work through the rest of my cellared '12s before going back to the '13.

I have found that I enjoy it with nine months in the bottle. I like it better fresh though.

If you find yourselves in the South Burbs of Chicago, swing by Tribes Mokena for some Backwoods on tap December 18th at 4PM - always a treat.

Is any of this left in Madison? I've tried both HyVee and Woodman's in Sun Prairie.

I highly doubt it. The stuff sat around for a week last year, but was gobbled up almost instantly this year. Maybe try Jennifer Street Market. That is probably your only shot.

You could try the Verona Wine Cellar. I saw some there the other day. 2 bottle limit.
