just going to repeat my question; does this sit for a bit at the brewery? shit is impossible to find in chicago. last year it was easier for me to buy multiple cases of bcbs than it was for me to find a single four pack of this. i would definitely drive up to the brewery if it meant i could buy this in bulk.

It is usually only around for a couple weeks, if you can't find any hit me up and ill trade ya for something from chicago.

Backwoods Bastard was literally in the fridge for 3 weeks at Founders last November, up until Thanksgiving. The beauty of it is there is no bottle limit at the brewery, where it is extremely limited wherever it gets shipped. They also announced they brewed more Backwoods for this years release and are trying to stretch its availability to December depending on demand. I'd say if you go the first couple weeks of November to the brewery you can buy as much as you want of this beer. Which is great because this is an amazing beer.

I agree. I don't feel that Backwoods ages well.

I'll reiterate the comments that BB sat in the store at Founder's right up and thru the Thanksgiving weekend...I was able to get a case on like the 22 or something...And that was even after the Anniversary party.

I don't know... Wulver is pretty damn delicious, and according to the ratings and reviews here... it's the best Scotch Ale out there.

It's a beer style I love and know.. I've got the top 3 beers on there at the house now, and totally agree with the Wulver being 1, and I would flip the CCB and the Founders offerings.

Place in Kalamazoo got 5 cases today. Just ran out and picked up a 4-pack before it was gone. Guy said we got it before Grand Rapids even and that there would be more to come. One of my favorite beers, can't get enough.

I hope it's on draft at Founders as long as it was last year. Pours of BB any night a week for 2-3 months is glorious. I didn't even have to break into my case until almost spring.

But at 8 bucks for ten ounces. The math makes no sense given that a bottle is like 4.

Something about being at the brewery just makes it taste so much better though!

8$ a pour? It's 6$ a pour, even KBS is 6$ a pour and if my memory serves me right a 4 pack of Backwoods at Founders is 12$, therefore that's 3$ a bottle

They put it out sooner than they were "supposed" to. We see plenty of this around town, not sure why they had to drum up the false limited-ness of this beer, rubs me the wrong way a bit.

All that said, I went about bought some today as well, I am impatient and love this beer.

Ya, I thought it was maybe a special release of some of last year's batch, still glad to be one of the first people to get my hands on this year's though.

I just had a '12 BB 2 nights ago, and it drank fantastic. At least IMHO.

Had a '12 Backwoods next to a Wulver, Central Waters BB scotch, and Beachwood BBQ BA Full Malted Jacket in August. I thought Wulver and Full Malted tied for best BA scotch, both phenominal. I think fresh Backwoods would be a better competitor. Wish I would have had another CCB BB Big Sound to compare but that will have to wait. Regardless, all are great BA scotch ales and I can't wait for '13 Backwoods.
