Founders Backwoods Bastard

The price of craft beer gets more out of control everyday sadly, but I have to disagree this is a great beer, however Founders had a big expansion last year and consistency and quality seems to have suffered. I'd recommend giving this another chance, but try to get some from a different batch.

 

Can anyone confirm that Founders used both blank black bottle caps and their traditional Founders logo caps on this years release and why it was done that way?
I picked up a second four pack and it has a bottle date of 10/17/13 while the 'original' shipped batch was 9/xx/13.

 

Any sightings in RI or mass?

 

Stop putting it in the fridge. At 65 deg there is plenty of smoke and bourbon and wood, DELICIOUS!

 

They ran out of founders caps. My harvest ale, and the first case of backwoods had black caps. I picked up more backwoods yesterday that had a different bottle date, and had the normal founds cap on it.

All is good in the world. I"m happy they have enough that it takes up different dates to bottle, and happy to get over a case of it this year. Top beer they produce next to KBS, IMO.

I had BB with the black caps & many with the actual Founders caps.
Also quite a few Harvest Ale w/the plain black cap, those would've been bottled early October

thanks, i guess i never noticed or picked up any of their other products with blank caps.

 

I picked up a 4pk over the weekend and paid $15. So yes, $28 is a bit high.

 

I don't put it in the fridge. That would be stupid.

Where in NY? That is high. In NYC and on LI, I see it between $13.99-15.99 a 4/pk...

 

Hunterdon Brewing rolls this out in NJ next week with Sweet Repute.

 

Just had some this past weekend, I picked it up because I was sure it was mispriced at $9.99 4/pk!

Founders just started distributing here in Fla recently but I still somehow managed to score 4 packs of this at different times at ABC stores over this month for $13.99.. Not a ton available here, but I found it at a couple of places.

This stuff is fantastic and I'm set for the season..

Since Founders came into Florida, they seem to really be trying to ensure we have a good stock of all their stuff on shelves
