Never had Spite before but think I may go to the taproom tommrow after work and try it. White flame im hudsonville makes a habanero pale ale that is quite hot. Kinda looking forward to this beer.

Regardless of liking this beer or not, high five to Founders for finally putting something interesting on tap for their locals. I wish more breweries woud take care of their locals like CCB.....

If they bottled Spite for Backstage, I'd say bigger mistake. Invading Iraq level mistake.

I think that your going a little overboard here... Also...you might want to work on you sentance structure a little bit. I am not a truck chaser or entitled to founders beer. I am saying that I am loosing interest in founder for those reasons that I listed. I little logic goes a long way... Go get some picnic baskets or something:slight_smile:

Definitely agree that someone could be blowing smoke up my ass about the 70 cases. I just would rather they increase production to spread to new states rather than spread the same amount around so everybody gets less. I heard they are building or built a new barrel aging cave so hopefully more will be in the works to go around. The past two years I was only able to grab 2 bottles of KBS so if they spread to too many more states and to overseas I could easily not find any with the same production levels. And a good beer store in NH is a good 2+ hours away so just to go driving and hoping to find KBS wouldn't really work. Luckily other companies are producing some very quality Bourbon Barrel Stouts so I if didn't get any, I wouldn't be bummed for too long.

    You're, Lose, Sentence. ????

And that is not "what you were saying", you said that they were "going to loose many loyal customers," which they won't, or those customers will be replaced almost instantly... threatening to leave because their beer is becoming more difficult to locate (due to popularity) is the exact opposite of loyalty... it's just hipsterism.

The bolded part I find completely false. (I know you didnt say it)...What is "more difficult to locate" is SOME of their specialty beers...

Smelled this at the Extreme Beer Fest and refused to actually taste it as I wanted to be able to taste other beers afterward. A novelty gimmick, not something I would ever consider worthy of spending time, resources, and (bourbon?) barrels on. Is Founders going for a niche of a niche? (not just a pepper beer, but BARREL aged pepper beer!)

I used to think Backstage Series meant experimental and good. Learned my lesson by rushing to get FMB, I kept my distance from Bolt Cutter, and I will ignore BA Spite like I do with BMC products.

Don't know if anyone has been down to the taproom to try the BA Spite yet but they have two variants of it. BA Habanero and BA Poblano. The Habanero is good its got some heat to the after taste but a nice whiskey kind of burn going in. The poblano is a lil more drinkable IMO, its got that great pepper smell and taste. Then kind of a sweet finish.

People still substitute 'sux' for 'sucks'? Hah.

    Back on topic:
My coworker tried Spite because he's a spice fiend, but his palate was ruined for 30-60 minutes afterward. If I was looking to marinate some chicken or add a twist to some curry, sure I'll get some Spite.

Had FMB and hated it (not cheap either); Bolt Cutter is likely okay, but not at the prices I see (Sucaba is 2/3 the price and very good); and BA Spite will unlikely come cheap. To use an extreme example, the average person doesn't have to try Voodoo Doughnut to know they won't like it.

He's saying it's not worth the 12-15-whatever dollars it costs to "make sure he doesn't like it."
