Founders Barrel Runner

BA FIS would have been great, especially since they discontinued, what in my opinion is an easy top 5 stout.

 

Something I'll seek out for an individual 12oz bottle, but any purchase beyond that will be dependent on my experience with those first 12 ounces.

 

For all the hate that gets passed around these boards about breweries cranking out BA stouts, pastry stouts, and NE IPAs, I'm surprised there is such an uproar that a brewery decided not to produce another BA stout.

 

I really do think that Founders is losing their direction. Starting to have one to many duds...IMO, of course!

 

As a fan of Doom and Dankwood, curious for this. Rum barrels scare me more than the BA IPA part.

So is this pretty much the same as Barrel Aged Rum and Hops Thang? If so that's a shame, was not a fan. Forget Dankwood and this, just bring back Doom

 

I'll try Barrel Runner. Though not an IPA fan, I've been trying all of their BA series, and am a fan of Rum BA beers.

I'd like to see them come out with BBA/RBA Rübæus.

 

Rum barrels only seem to work/pair with a very small portion of beers (as much as nobody wants to hear it, pumpkin ales work really well) but in addition to that, I feel like new barrels work a lot better with hoppy beers. Ala Dogfish Head Burton Baton.

 

This one could be delicious. Will be on my pick up list.

Still holding out hope in BA FIS or BA SMB later in the year.

 

I will try it on draft and go from there if I purchase any more.

 

I can't say for sure on that, I think BA rum and hops was/is a mix of different IPAs, rather than mosaic focused. But, makes sense that they'd be trying similar things/versions out as pilot projects in the taproom, I think lots of breweries do this.

 

BA SMB was on tap at the pub quite a bit over the summer/fall. So, not out of the realm of possibilities.

 

They had me at rum barrel.

 

To each his own, but I'll pass. BA IPA's just aren't my thing. I will be curious to see what the community thinks of this beer, though.

 

I'll probably try it in a flight or as a sample before anything. I haven't been wowed by a BA DIPA yet and I haven't had a rum barrel beer I've liked yet. So it's an uphill battle.

 

Mosaic can be one of those hops where about 3/4 of the way through a glass I am done with it. But I love Rum and DIPAs a little more than IPAs typically so...eh, I'm in.
