That must have been what the boltcutter (not a Founders reference) cost to break into the store...

let it sit for a year, the fruit needs to be way more subdued. i regret drinking mine last night. having said that, im not a big fan of fruit in my beer.

Opened my bottle this weekend, and I found it well worth the $14.99 price tag for a one time purchase. To me, it seemed like a pretty spot-on execution of what they were going for--it tasted like a raspberry that had been dipped in dark chocolate, and if that isn't what you were expecting going in, then take another look at the label and ask yourself why you expected anything different.

That said, it's about as sweet as a raspberry dipped in dark chocolate as well. Which, for me, was too sweet to finish the bottle in one sitting. I capped it and finished the rest the following night.

If you don't like raspberries, fruit beers, or sweet beers, then you won't like this one. Period. But if you like any or all of those things, I think you'll really like this one. The only thing I would change is to have a bit more bitterness to counteract the sweetness. My first sip got a really nice balance of raspberry sweetness and roasted char/bitterness, but over time, the cumulative effect of the beer was just too sweet.

At this price, I'm sure this release will sit on the shelf along with the last (over-priced) release - Dissenter.

Picked this up last week for $12.99 at a local shop here in Chicago (The Beer Temple) - thought that was a completely reasonable price for 750ml. From what I'm reading about its sweetness, I think I might open this up for dessert with the fam and split it 5 ways.

I like the Hardywood better, but that's just me. Both are very good.

Definitely split this with friends. It's incredibly sweet.

Tried it last night, was really hoping for it to be great. But it was just not very well-balanced, I felt like I was being pulled in opposite directions. Not chocolaty and the raspberry was tart. The raspberry also was a pretty sharp bite, like Robitussin. Price was good here, so wanted to open right away and go get more if it was great. Body was pretty good though, and maybe with some time the fruit would settle down, but I'll let y'all find that out.

So how does this compare to Lindley Park? Which has a strong raspberry flavor and I happen to love.

I enjoyed it a lot. Didn't think it was that sweet. The Raspberry kept the sweetness in check. Will I buy another bomber? Probably not. Main reason is the price.

Had it this weekend. It had a surprising coffee smell mixed with raspberry and chocolate. It didn't disappoint. I thought it was very good. Like everyone said it tasted like raspberry and chocolate mixed to perfection. I opened my bottle to just see if it's worth getting more. I'll definitely be getting some more of this.

I found this for 18.99 at the WF in Union Square and passed. I was in NJ over the weekend and picked up a bottle for 14.99 at Wegman's in Ocean. Should this beer opened or cellared?

Super sweet! And after three sips this S.O.B. tastes like Robitussin. Rough is not the word. They need to sell this in 8oz bottles.

Had it on tap and enjoyed it. Picked up a bomber. Good interesting stuff.

I wonder how this would benefit from aging...would the sweetess subside?

Had one of these from the first batch that was drinking really well. I plan on aging mine for at least 6 months to allow the fruit to calm down.

Agree 100% did not pick up much of the malts in this one. Raspberry was a little sweet. I will be aging my second one in hopes that the Malts come more forward
