At Total Wine in Huntersville NC $13.49 a bottle. Just got back from Michigan where I bought a case from the Brewery for $17/bottle.

I bought it based on how the 2011 version was when I had it fresh. Loved it back then. Supposedly the same recipe.

I bought it right out of the case...was a little annoyed when I found out the price at the register.

I loved it, had a few bottles. This was the first backstage release. Treat it more as a dessert beer, though. Try pairing with a dark chocolate espresso brownie, or something similar. IMO the Belgian yeast is what makes this beer, as opposed to Rubaeus, which is just raspberry soda to me.

What about the trade value? I've already seen some trade posts for this. The beer being asked for in return is much more difficult to obtain. I don't see that with BM sitting on shelves. Am I missing something?

Good question, I passed on it. I heard it is legit a fruit beer and overly sweet while not at all tart. It was about 12.99 or 13.99 here in atlanta. I have a feeling it will last about a week at those prices. Will check back today.

Not a trader myself, but from what I understand markets that get Founders are getting plenty of it. Its selling now with no limits, much like Dissenter and Lushious. While Repute was a barrel aged offering, at the time it was a stand in line, "we only got a case or two" type release.

You are not missing anything. But both you and I live in states where Founders distributes so that might skew our opinion. There are still plenty of spots in the US where Founders isn't (yet). I do a fair amount of trading myself but I still consult the Beer Trading, Talk and Help forum: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/forums/beer-trading-talk-help.27/ Also, as it turns out there is a thread already in that forum for Blushing Monk. This should be a good resource: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/completed-trades-blushing-monk.264028/#post-3373119 Not a lot of posts there yet but I'm sure more people will contribute.

I just hate Rubaeus. It's my least favorite Founders beer. So I passed on this one.

Is it anything like Rubaeus? And what do you think the base beer is? Tripel?

Base is more of a BSPA.

To me only difference is it uses a belgian yeast and it's higher abv. But to each is own..both tons of raspberries.

As quoted from it BA page "Essentially an "Imperial Rübæus," this ale contains four times the amount of raspberries as Rübæus and is fermented with a Belgian yeast strain.
