Had this on tap when it first came out and loved the American hop aroma mixed with sweet maple bourbon. I have a bottle but should I age this or crack it fairly soon?

I wasn't a huge fan of it fresh, so I'm letting mine sit a bit. Hops should fade, obviously.

I am sitting on it. For years, really. I don't like hoppy bw.

I loved it fresh, but understand why the hoppiness can be a turn off....Just get another bottle and drink it fresh and age one..lol

I didn't think it was bad fresh, but it stood out to me as a beer that could benefit from some age. At the same time, I'm a bigger fan of sweeter English BWs than the hoppier American BWs, so that certainly has some impact on my judgement here. Either way, I'm glad I got to try one fresh and still have a bottle for the celler. I'm excited to crack that sucker in about three years!

I had one fresh and tried to hold out on the other, as I too thought it was way too hoppy. Ended up opening it last month at a big beer event, and even at a short aging period it was already better. I'd say two years would be perfect on this.

I just cracked this last week. I think I slightly preferred it fresh, only because the maple is already fading, and the sweet maple bourbon finish that it had fresh is history. However, it was still very good, and I will be cracking another in 6-8 months to see how it has developed. I think that once the hops fade into fruity undertones and some more bourbon comes through that it will be dynamite, perhaps better even than it was fresh.

I have a bottle and got a chance to try it on tap last week. It's pretty damn strong. Very hoppy and boozy. Time in the bottle should teach this beast some manners.

If you had it when it first came out, I'd suggest aging it. Don't worry, at 15%ABV it's not goin' south anytime soon.
