Founders Breakfast Stout 2015

This year's batch is great! Absolutely yummy!! One of the best! Stockpiling 4-packs.

 

I'm happy with this year's batch. I bought a case about 2-3 weeks ago for $66, "case discount", and I have one 4-pack left. I have at least one per night almost.
Gonna buy another case (if I can/if it's allowed) soon to sip on for a few weeks. I have to save at least a few for next year and so on!

I actually have on sitting out now, letting it get to close to room temp before I drink and go to bed! No class til 3:30p tomorrow :-)

 

One of my favorite brews every year and I do think it changes ever so slightly from year to year. This years seems to have retained all the coffee n chocolate flavors I love - The difference I noticed right away was its little more creamy. Very subtle difference but its there. Just MO.

 

Nope...it was F*CKING delicious as always!!!!

 

Not sure what happened to this beer, but it's not the same. Won't be buying it again.

 

I can drink two beers from the same four or six pack (of this or any other beer) one day apart and taste some different things both times. There is no way anyone can accurately gauge subtle changes from year to year.

 

I thought last year it was too bitter - like a pot of coffee that sat on the burner too long. This year is drinking great and I'm not even going to try and pretend to compare it to 2013 or earlier.

 

The 2 states with the babyless label are Michigan & New Hampshire.

 

I've had the 2013, 2014 and 2015 versions, and I think this year is just as good as those.

 

Got to say I thought the 2015 was slightly more bitter than sweet and had a much stronger coffee taste than the 2014,not better or worse, just different.

 

Agreed completely with this sentiment. A few weeks ago I drank a 2014 Breakfast Stout in conjunction with a new bottle from the 2015 and I definitely preferred the 2015 - much fresher coffee and none of the slightly bitter metallic aftertaste of the 2014. Would have been a more effective study if I had fresh 2014, of course.

 

@charlzm , K&L Wines offers Founders now as of earlier this month....if you live in Socal like me you can order it and they can transport it from their norcal location to socal.
I got some from them, and they sold it out quick!

 

Had a 4 pack last night. Good as always. I wish they changed the label accross the whole county though I love the note on the fridge new one.

 

I've had about 5 of them and four tasted off so i'm not sure what's going on. Got some metallic tastes for sure.

 

If you taste metal, you're not letting it warm up enough.

 

I still have 10 2014 bottles left, need to pick up some 2015 to compare.

This beer is on the shelf year round in NY, definitely the go to stout in my house.

 

Now that's a place I haven't been in a while. I have been to the K&L in Hollywood several times and never find anything interesting enough to drop some cash on. Good to know this.

 

I feel like there was a bit more coffee, bitter flavor than usual. Less sweet and malty. Only by a hair though, still amazing beer.

 

Just for Michigan.
