Neither thin or artificial tasting. Just delicious. As always. I haven't noticed any significant difference from past batches in the few bottles I have sampled. They were bottled 08-06-12.

Glad I was able to get some last night. Had the first of the season then and will have another tonight...and tomorrow....and the next night. Looks like it's going to get expensive the next few months.

I do feel like there is less coffee potency in this years but that could easily be me being spoiled but other coffee beers through out the year. Still amazingly good and I'm sure I'll drink a good amount this year. It's actually inspired me to brew my own coffee beer next week.

8/2/12 date, and the 2nd impression is like the first, it's really good.

I also have a batch dated 8-20-12, must be a mixed delivery. Two different places, same day, same distributor, different dates.

It has been on tap for about a week now. The 9/21 "release" is just a way to pull in more of you outsiders.

It is quite comical that Founders is based in SW Michigan and it has not hit shelves in SW Michigan yet.

Been bathing in 2011 FBS while patiently waiting for 2012

Mine is bottled 8/1/12 and while I am disappointed that you got some really fresh FBS my month old FBS is mighty tasty.

Just opened my first bottle of this year. Delicious as always. Nothing artificial about it. It's hard to artificially reproduce the character that "flaked oaks" gives this beer.

Just had an '11 and '12 side by side and the '11 had a thicker mouthfeel and better flavor for sure IMO. That being said the '12 was still very good and the coffee was slightly more bitter. In my mind this ends the drink FBS fresh debate for me. I would take a properly cellered '11 over a fresh '12 any day.

    Yep it's bad this year.
I suggest everyone avoid buying it.

I have at least 3 different bottled dates so far 8-2 8-12 8-20 from what I bought, this one is 8-20. Maybe it's a mental thing after looking at this thread, but the 8-20 seems a little different, more coffee, a little more bitter, also drinking at a slightly warmer temp too. Maybe it's a temp thing on this one, and I've had 5 the last two nights and this one is the 1st that's a little different, but none are thin or artificial, not in the least.

    Agree.

But I have to agree with the OP, I had the same batch and it tasted like Frangelic Mountain Brown minus the nuts...still gross...total letdown.
