    I don't get it, either.
There's at least 6 cases of it sitting at my local ABC Fine Wine & Spirits store! It was discounted down to $9.99, but recently it is showing back at $11.49. I didn't think it would go back up when the same 6 cases are sitting on the floor in the exact same place for months now. :astonished:

Explaining a term is not synonymous with liking it.

1776 Liquors in Bristol as of this past weekend had lots of it on the shelf.

I have to disagree. I just tried KBS for the first time, and when it warmed up, it was miles better than FBS. It was pretty easy for me to taste the bourbon. The price IS a bit high, though.

I feel like this beer is mostly a shelf turd only in the warm months. As soon as it starts to get cold you see this stuff dissapearing off the shelves.

    Solid point @bismarksays.

And, I'll absolutely admit that I often take for granted the fact that they have continued to grow and expand into other states & markets that have little experience with Founder's full offering. I've been spoiled with having steady exposure to them for a long period of time.

On the contrary, I do find it ridiculous that they haven't done a second release of CBS & Better Half. Especially when both beers still makes somewhat regular appearances on tap at their brewery & other breweries across the nation on "special occasions".

This could be defended by their camp, if they made the claim that Backstage series is always a "new release". But with the two above mentioned beers (B. Monk & Mango Mag), that's clearly not the case. Obviously they have it in them to reproduce prior releases.

So, as a fan of the Founder's brand....i find it ridiculous that they'd toy with their fans emotions. Much the same way that I find it ridiculous that the Detroit Lions couldn't entice Megatron to stick around for a few more seasons.....

Many options of better quality or better hype?

Seriously, I cannot imagine a more perfect example of a straight forward, non-BA big stout. Roasted malt, chocolate and coffee each well represented and yet in balance with one another.

I hate the term "shelf turd" but FBS certainly "lingers" in my area.

I usually buy a case every year when it first comes out because I like it best fresh when the coffee flavor is at its peak. The last bottles generally disappear from my fridge by the New Year.

Even though I could find FBS in several places right now, I am not likely to buy any as I have found from several aging experiments that the coffee begins to fade by 6 months or so.

Frankly, I would love it if Founders moved the release of FBS to January-February as there are many beers that I really enjoy in the fall and early winter but fewer solid "go-to" seasonals released in the early months of the year.

Yeah, back in Feb I found a store that had sixers of 9/2014(!) Expedition Stout without any markup. Suffice it to say I snagged some.

I like it, I didn't buy any this year because I've had it and had other choices. What I'd wish they'd do (since they like me running their business for them) is what they said they were going to do a couple of years ago, and just put it into sixes at the regular rotation price. Is there that much difference per ounce to me the buyer between a 11-12 dollar six and an 11-12 dollar four? No, but it's enough to move it from daily drinker to treat level, and at this point the shelves are laden with treats. Wouldn't it be better to sell someone like me a case over the winter than eke out a four because there are plenty of specials to buy and not enough good daily drinkers?

Not a shelf turd. It's a shelf trophy.. like when your son wins a little league tournament. The trophy is a nice thing to have around on the mantle and makes someone feel good

Nothing turd about that turd. It's just so much quantity. But fresh is better
