Our TW got dumped with about 25 cases of FBS a few weeks ago. They already had about 15 cases from last year sitting in the same spot collecting dust...not that I'm complaining!

Honestly the last time I was at chips a few weeks ago, I didn't see any FBS on the shelves. I did only stop at the one in Moyock, so the one on the beach might still have it. Wouldn't hurt to give em a call.

Unfortunately I haven't seen any FBS yet. They just started distribution here a few months ago.

@MaltLickyWithTheCandy FBS has a 150 day shelf life. Hold off for a month, fresh batches hit shelves in September.

This! If you've never had FBS do not get last years edition. I buy tons of this every year and the coffee fade is noticeable.

Keep an eye on the forums. I have heard many people say the same thing on here. But I have always thought this, as I had W&B well before ever trying FBS. So when I finally had FBS, I was left a little disappointed. I actually expected a superior beer, but it seemed a little lackluster in comparison to W&B.

Anything you get now will be close to a year old. The roasted qualities should still be there but the coffeee notes will be muted.

There's a slight coffee drop from fresh but by no means would I not pick it up because it still drinks fantastic right now. I bought 2 cases and still have about a case left. Just drank one last night and I prefer it better than fresh right now cause all the flavors and in perfect balance and drinks a lot smoother than fresh. Wake n bake is another one that needs a few months to mellow unless you are really seeking a straight black coffee bomb. I like that I can pick up all the subtle flavors in the beer better with some age.

It's typically bottled in September so late sept/Oct for distribution isn't off.

That's well and good, but the fact remains he corrected someone else's post and backed it up with a link that, in fact, contradicts what he is saying and confirms the original post.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I was in the OBX recently and stopped in at Chips and Trio, in Kitty Hawk. I don't remember seeing any on the shelves, but I wasn't looking either. Trying calling them as mentioned, to see if anyone has any. Good Luck, OP!

Stout season(breakfast stout season) used to start on August 1st which is what I thought this thread was about. Now it starts a month later and lasts the entire year even though it has a shelf life of less than half of a year. When I first reviewed BS it was from a case dated 7/29.

In MA, I haven't been seeing much FBS anymore, but amazingly I am still seeing FIS all over the place (which I thought was smaller distro). One of the better beer stores in the state probably still has 5-6 cases of it. Thankfully it has a longer shelf life.

I think I've bought more FIS this year than FBS. Love them both.

I'll be ordering a keg of FBS (and possibly FIS) this year.

Download the Founders app for your phone and it'll point you to where to go for it on tap and in bottles. Luckily for me this stuff is always stocked in my TW's

    Good luck!

Yeah they updated it to September. I posted the same thing yesterday and deleted it after going back to the look at the link. It's listed as a September release now! Which is good because the one bottle shop I have been buying it from finally stopped receiving it a couple weeks ago :slight_frown:
