Just picked up a four pack of this years Breakfast stout..I plan on aging a couple. I don't have any special cellar or refrigerator to store. Wondering if I should store them in my fridge or not. Thanks

If your fridge isn't too cold, then it's fine. Not really ideal though.

from what i understand a refrigerator will essentially just slow the aging process. also, FWIW, the general consensus is this is a far better beer when fresh.

I feel this beer holds up very well - fridge or not.

I feel like you should just save yourself the trouble and send these to me, as I have proper storage space for them. Thanks in advance.

Fresh is great, aged is great. The fridge should be fine. I'm still drinking some of last year's it it's outstanding. FBS is a great beer, enjoy!

Great beer, don't know that I would age it. Personally I grab a case or so and drink some fresh and just leave the rest in the cellar so it lasts me till the next release. But to me the coffee is what makes this beer amazing and it does start to take a hit throughout the year.

My suggestion, buy more than a 4 pack.

This is 100% correct. Drink it now.

Drink now. Once the coffee fades it's not the same beer. They must use summit hops because it gets a dirty onion flavor after the coffee's gone.

I found a bottle that was at least four years old in a four pk. at a bottle shop up north. Must have been a left over single. anyway it was still awesome, but straight chocolate. no "dirty onion" flavor.

I have some that I bought in 2008, just opened a bottle recently and it was awesome. As far as where to store them, neither fridge temp nor room temp are ideal, but I'd choose too cold over too warm.

Mine that were from the batch became more intense with the coffee and chocolate up front. They were kept in one of the 'wine cellars' that I like to buy off craigslist whenever I see one. I keep it set at 50F and all of my bottles seen to keep well. I almost liked them better fresh, but the contrast was much appreciated.

I managed to find some 2010 BS buried in some founders boxes at a local liquor store a few weeks ago. Obviously sitting at room temp for two years is not the best for most beers but IMO the chocolate and coffee elements are simply better fresh.

I had bottles of 2011 and 2012 side-by-side last night. My strong preference was for the fresher and brighter flavors of the new batch. Not to say the 2011 was bad, necessarily; it "held up" in that it was still fairly tasty, but is clearly a lesser beer at this point. My $0.02.
