I'll be in Boston during the release of CBS this year (Dec 1) and curious if anyone has an idea if any stores will be selling it? This will be my first time in Boston so I'm not familiar how prevalent Founders is out there. I did check out their beer finder page and it seems breakfast stout seems to be widely available. I'll mainly be in the Jamaica Plain area so any recommendations near there would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I don’t believe a date for distro release has been set. I think Dec 1 is brewery-only.

I remember reading about folks who found dusty bottles at out-of-the-way stores, but when was the last time CBS saw any kind of meaningful retail distribution around here? Are we expecting a round this year?

I guess since KBS truck-chasing became pointless a couple of years ago, we need to go to the next level...

CBS draft was very easy to come across in 2015. I'm not going to concern myself trying to hunt down a bottle.

CBS has been on draft at a handful of places but I've always missed it. Kinsale has it last year, as did Canary Square (which is in JP).

KBS bottles are not that hard to come by, but they do sell out the day they are released most places. KBS draft usually shows up at Salty Pig, Coda, Kinsale, Five Horses, and I'm sure a number of other spots.

Let's bring this back on track a little...

Blanchard's is probably your best bet in JP to get CBS, this is not confirmed, I've just gotten plenty of Founders from there. Maybe Marty's in Newton? Brookline Liquor Mart is probably your best bet in Brighton if you've got a car.

Lulu's had CBS on for MONTHS and as stated above Canary had it on for a couple of weeks before it kicked.

And KBS bottles are still around. That said- no one knows how much CBS will be around and when the bottles will actually see distro.

Second Blanchards in JP. They may keep it behind the counter. Streetcar is a nice craft only shop that is definitely worth checking out in JP and they do sell Founders. There is also a Craft Beer Cellar not far in Roslindale.

In general, for bars/breweries in JP my favorites are Canary Square, Brendan Behan, Vee Vee, Casa Verde and Turtle Swamp Brewing.

Yeah, I see this being a nightmare to hunt down. Hopefully it pops up on tap in a good amount of spots.

Gotta imagine Publick House and Row 34 getting a few kegs.

It likely won't be the cheapest option but with most or all of the cost going to charity and surely other exceptional beers on, Meadhall's yearly Christmas party is a great place to try it. Would be very very surprised if it doesn't show up there again.

CBS most likely will be like the other rare founders releases that will only show up in accounts that do well with founders other beers. they need to sell more than just the all day 15 packs and support the brand year round. obviously good draft accounts for the distributor will see their chance at getting it but everything ive ever been told is that its accounts that sell a good amount of founders

I saw KBS lasting for about a week in some locations, though it was mostly the over-priced bombers. A few places i've talked to confirmed they'll have CBS. I think the CBCs will be getting some but they usually do releases on satuday morning at like 1 bottle per person. Liquor world in porter got a lot of KBS if i remember. Overall i dont think it will be too hard to find, but you might not get much.

Thanks everyone, this has been really helpful. Looks like Blanchards on Centre St in Jamaica Plain is the closest to where I'll be so I'll give it a shot.

Just an FYI re. Brookline Liquor Mart in Brighton - I wouldn't waste your time on this - the store kinda dissolved or shrunk to like a quarter its size as it was taken over by the self storage place next to it. Don't think ant replacement will carry CBS.

The CBS tick was easy in Boston the past couple years

Have at it. Good but same realm as many other easier to get stouts

Wait a few months and pick it up at chanskys on the corner of Sutherland and comm ave. Theyve had cases of BCBS and KBS the past couple years in March

Dec. 1 is the release date at stores nationwide, according to Founders.
