Yeah, when I got there and saw four cases sitting behind the deli I realized my anxiety was somewhat unfounded, and given the number of people trading it, I'm getting the sense that Founders has made a lot of it. I wouldn't say "flooding the market" by any means. Given the demand, it sounds like it's only lasting a matter of hours or less wherever it lands. And given a beer afficianado's desire, and most importantly, availability, and ability to track it down, there should be at least one to be had. And barring that, trading on the secondary market is now pretty active - it looks to me like trading values are all over the place and I'd suspect they'll only go up from here but but who knows.

It'll be interesting to see where Founders goes with CBS from here. KBS is no longer a must buy for most people and has basically 0 trade value. If CBS becomes a yearly release it will have the same fate it seems. However if they make it a less frequent release (every 2 years, 5 years?) then it will only drive it's value up.

Can't imagine Founders care about trade value at all.

Brew it. Bottle it. Sell it.

They don't care about trade value one bit as evidenced by backwoods bastard becoming a year round beer. The more KBS on the shelves the better imo, I buy it every year because it's that good and I love that I don't have to hunt for it.

Last year the official brewery release was March 6-11. It hit nationwide distribution at the beginning of April. Around here on shelves mid-April.

Total Wine in Everett just got it this morning. 1 pp, $27. And you can pick up a seemingly endless supply of BA Ten Fidy too?

Thanks for the heads-up. Got mine. Saw a couple others holding bottles when I left.

Both Gordon's DTX and CBC Fort Point are doing raffles for single bottles, which seems odd given what seems like decent availability in the surrounding suburbs.

Raffles really turn me off on mass distributed stuff like this. It's basically like saying "Come into my store, and depending on how much you buy, your name might be picked to have the chance to come back and purchase a bottle!" Agree it's odd, but consumers can certainly shop with their wallets...

I think, at least in Gordon's case, they really did get a limited amount and are trying to spread the wealth in the fairest way. They are combining the raffle with a (presumably free) tasting event with no obligation to buy anything.

It's probably a better way of doing it than selling to the first 12 people who stalk the store and then move on to the next one.

Yeah, I suppose. Maybe I'm cynical. Just a matter of how the "raffle" is conducted that always makes me curious, especially if it's stop in from x-until-y and let us know at check out to add you to the list. No idea how they're running it, I've just seen that in a couple cases. As you said, this is probably seen as a fair way for a lot of folks as well. To each their own!

CBS arrived at Porter Wine & Spirits (aka Liquor World). Six cases, $26.45 per.

Nice delivery day there: Christmas Bomb, Bible Belt in cans ($34!!) and Foundation Epiphany(!!)

Any tappings in Cambridge/Somerville? At $24+ a bottle, I think I'd rather just pay for a pour...

any sightings in the Waltham area? Also anyone hear of Blanchard's getting it? Would like to grab a bottle if convenient, otherwise I'll just have it on tap like the last couple of years.

Blanchards JP told me to check back today but I haven't yet. I'm guessing they are good to go though.
