Grand Rapids is a nice area, used to go there years ago to visit one of our suppliers Dooge Veneer.

Wish we had M-43 here as I would love to try it. Maybe one day.

In all seriousness I agree x100. I have no more right to a prop than anyone from out of state who is attending the time and place where GI chooses to sell it. Some of my favorite beer experiences are talking with folks from somewhere completely different from me - whether that’s where I reside or when I’m out of town.

 

You don't think there will be a line at open tomorrow? I know it's a Friday, but I have to believe people will be hyped to get in for a premiere pour of CBS.

 

It’s been planned at Sheffield’s for awhile. They even tapped it a couple hours early. I had a couple pours. This isn’t anything to line up for IMO. I’ll check Jewel in the morning, but won’t spend more time than that looking for it. However, I am already getting a couple bottles next weekend as part of their release.

I wouldn’t be shocked it Sheffield’s still has it on tap tomorrow when they open.

 

All the other Midwest...sorry, Great Lakes states hate Illinois. We’re like the younger, but smarter and more successful sibling who Mom and Dad secretly prefer.

 

CBS and BCBS talk overlapping..

 

I was lucky enough to choose Sheffield's as my pre-gaming spot for my favorite band (Foo Fighters) in my favorite baseball stadium (Wrigley) back in 2014. Got the whole crew together in the beer garden.

Unbeknownst to us, turns out they had a CBS release at 2 PM. Everyone preordered from their waitress at 1:45. It was glorious to see the trays and trays of delicious maple barrel aged stout brought around by the waitresses like the ones in the Hofbrauhaus.

Keg kicked around 2:45. Pretty sure I had 3 in that time. Pretty sure.

On another note, if you see a skinny 70 year old lady asking for CBS at Jewel @7 am in the north suburbs please don't trample her. That's my mom. Her name is Betty. And she'll do anything for her son.

Local store opens at 8, 3 minutes from work. I'm on the train that it will be gone quicker than most think. Definitely second the thoughts on M43. Phenomenal neipa!

 

For anyone in GR who didn’t see it, appears Meijer stores are releasing at noon today (Friday). The beer steward for the Cascade store said, “There is a very generous amount coming to my store. If when you arrive it seems there are 200 people in line, do not dispair. I will offer up to 2 each.”

There will only be a line if people decide to show up early to form one. My point was that there is no reason to show up any earlier than 10:59am to get their "premiere pour of CBS" when the doors open at 11:00am. It's only beer and Founders isn't going to be running out of it over this weekend, or the next.

You are probably right though, it's beer, it's 2017, and people don't think rationally.

I went to the Open Bottle midnight tapping and have to say I was a bit underwhelmed by CBS. I've never had it before, so I can't compare it to previous batches, but I couldn't get past how thin it was. Maybe it's because of all the Bourbon County I've been drinking in the past week, but there is very little body to speak of. The flavor is good, but needs just a little more maple imo. I got very little maple, even after letting it warm to room temperature. I'm happy I grabbed a couple of bottles of it, but won't be hoarding any more of it.

 

I just called Wauconda they started selling at 6 and about sold out

 

6 in line in Kalamazoo for 8am opening. I'm in car staying toasty and reading the entertaining BCBS thread/saga. Laughing my ass off.
