Did they pour CBS all weekend ? Going next Saturday also and didn't want to have to play the clock game if not necessary. Thanks

All the Jewels seemed to be doing 2 bottles per by me.

StC said they had 2 cases, though the beer buyer said he had 3 the night before. We were told the first 12 in line get it and then they pulled out another half case and the rest of the was SOL. Had enough to cover everyone but they wanted us out.

I thought it tasted better out of the bottle than on draft. I had both the same day too. However, I enjoyed them all.

My wife and I were there Saturday as well. Got in as soon as they opened, and sat at the little bar next to the gift shop. Bartender told me he worked the big bar on Friday and the line never ended. While we were there, at least 4 people were always lined up at the small bar waiting for a beer. Line outside to get in also looked like it had a dozen people waiting at all times. I don't know why you couldn't just go in through the gift shop if you didn't want a table. Plenty of room to stand around on the patio.

I'm not disappointed in not getting CBS, but I am kind of annoyed at how my local spot went about it. For the sake of anonymity, I'll just call this place Joe's.

I message Joe's last week asking about CBS. They tell me it'll be in either Friday or Monday. I say cool. Then they message me the next day unprompted, saying it'll be coming in Monday. I'm like cool, when do you expect it to come in. They say mid afternoon and I plan on swinging by after work in the evening.

When I go in and ask about it, the workers there tell me that it did come in but apparently they've all been reserved. Now, I get it. The managers and owners are likely in bottle groups and have mouths to feed. But as a semi-regular buyer from Joe's, I'd hope for a little more transparency in how they want to do special releases. I'd appreciate them being straight forward and saying everything was already claimed or they just weren't getting any. Stuff like that is frustrating thinking I might have a decent shot at snagging one, while knowing some other dudes can just walk in and claim one.

This reminds me of a local place to me. I got to know the owner pretty well (real small shop - he pretty much is the only one that runs it). Talked to the guy specifically about CBS sometime mid-summer. He was flat out honest that since he has no time to travel, and he has limited distro in terms of limited beers, if he got some, and he only got a case, he might keep the entire thing for himself.

Although that can be a bit frustrating, I don't really fault him. I also appreciated that transparency. Like, a lot.

I didn’t understand that line out front other than a technicality with fire codes, I walked in through the gift shop with no problems. And the line at the big bar was longer but moved much faster. Got my pour of CBS and a sammich and had a picnic table out front all to myself.

I just grabbed a bottle tonight. The last time I had CBS was a 4 oz. pour back in 2011. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this release but I wasn’t able to get out of work in time, so my wife bought me a bottle (she’s awesome!).

I’ve been sipping on this for about two hours, maybe a bit longer. I was somewhat underwhelmed when the beer was cold, but as it get warmer - up to about 55-60 degrees or so, it’s definitely the world class beer it’s supposed to be.

I went to Binny's in Chicago and got a bottle on Friday when they opened. We drank the bottle that night on a fresh palate and it was a letdown. It was thin and from cold to room temp there wasn't much maple, just coffee. Very similar beer to KBS. I believe this beer is suffering from being released so close to BCS, the mouth feel and intense flavors from Prop and Northwoods have skewed our palates. I had the 2011 batch back in '13 and I remember enjoying it, but back in '13 there wasn't as many amazing beers out there to compare with. I think it's the same beer as it always was but the market has caught up and passed it.

Still yet to try this here in Cleveland. Went to a bottle release but it was sold out by the time we got there (it was on tap, but had to get a flight of other Founder's stuff... which is fine, but I just wanted a bottle that night to go for another day).

A few more events coming up, and it should hit a lot of places today or tomorrow... So I hope I can at least get a bottle or two by the time it's all bought up.

When the hell did that change from Jim's Liquor? Given the specification of that store, I assume you live close. His brother owns Beer Bazaar in Grayslake but I haven't been in either in a while.

Couldn't agree more. If anything, I wish the manager would set aside say a handful of bottles in some kind of lottery, where you could get more tickets if you bought more merchandise. Not to sound like an entitled prick, though I know I'm starting to tow that line with my response, but knowing I don't have any shot at getting some highly sought out is annoying and frustrating, especially since I'm not truck chasing or hitting up multiple shops.

Its just beer, folks, just beer. Getting FOMO out of my mind has allowed me to enjoy beer more, any beer, even stuff that you can buy off the shelf on a random Thursday evening on your drive home from work. I'd suggest not getting frustrated over beer, its really not worth it.

Have to agree with your assessment of the bottles. Much more coffee in the bottles than on draft at Founders last Friday.

The draft pours I had were very balanced between the coffee, maple, bourbon, and chocolate with a creamy texture. The bottle was very reminiscent of KBS and only moreso as it warmed. Perhaps the coffee in the bottles will subside with some age.

Heinen's in University Heights had it on the floor earlier today. Looked to be about 10 left as of 10AM or so. After talking with the associate, it sounded like they didn't offer reservations on bottles because there are so many people that didn't pick up their BCS bottles they reserved.

The Heinens in Middleburg said they were out at 10am this morning. My guess is they were reserved, he said in/out. Lol
