Founders CBS 2017 Release

Yep. Heard multiple reports about original CBS tasting awful these days. Any unopened bottle at this point was basically wasted.

 

No. But if your friend has the 2011 bottle, the current 2017 release, AND a growler from 2014...

And while we're on the subject, why the 3 yr gap in the production cycle? Is it one of those new gueuzy stouts?

 

So is it going to be like it sounds, Dec 1 will be like a BCBS black friday release, but for CBS? Or is it just the beginning of distribution?

 

It does kind of sound like everyone will have it on the 1st. But......we'll see.

 

Yep, I've been hearing a little bit of both from employees in the beer world. The closer we get though, the more confident places in my area seem to be that they will have it for sale on 12/1. I'm hoping so since I had already taken the day off for a non-beer related reason - yes, those do exist!

Funny you mention that, suddenly I'm willing to stick around and "help out" around the house the night before, take the kids into daycare and school that morning, and head out of town shortly after that (approximately 9am when Binny's opens). I was originally supposed to leave Thursday night. I'm living a lie.

 

I had some of what I imagine must have been the 2014 batch at Founders Fest in 2016 (July 2016) and I thought it was a shadow of its original self. Even 18 months seems like a borderline amount of time to age this one; it is so unbelievable fresh that I personally wouldn't risk aging it ...

 

I can say for a fact that the CBS I had after FOBAB last year (2016) had very little maple. Still a good beer, but lost it's luster from when I had it with less than a year on it.

I was going to make the trek up for the release, but 6 hours each way for 2 bottles wasn't worth it for me.

 

Same, already have plans for mine to be cracked on Christmas then Superbowl Sunday.

 

I wish their ticketing email service they setup up would be a little more responsive. I've emailed them twice this week about how I have 2 sets of tickets under my name/account (by complete accident, I wasn't trying to be a douche and cheat the system). I just want to ensure that both my tickets aren't voided, and that I can use one of them if they want void out my second set (and possibly get a refund for this dumb mistake). I've emailed both their ticket service site and their general email. Nothing yet.

Has anyone tried reaching out via email besides me?

 

When emailing doesn’t work it is almost always best to call.

 

Yea, I'll give them through the weekend. If I still haven't heard from them come Monday, I'll call them.

I’ve heard that in CBS the blueberry fades fast. Sometimes before the bottles even make it to the customer.
