We’ll see how it plays out... if a store gets 200 bottles and allows 2 per, go ahead and do the math. You don’t think 100 people will pick them up? Most people I know who got tickets for the sale at the brewery still plan on grabbing extra bottles.

I think this won’t last much longer than a day but, based on quantity rumors, I don’t think it’s going to sell out right when the stores open. I think Black Friday is still fresh in our minds but the truth is CBS is really not that well known. I have several beer buddies that I had to tell them what CBS even is. Guess we’ll know in a few days.

Plenty of OG’s that don’t need to be told what CBS is. You have to figure this isn’t an every year release. CBS hasn’t been released in bottles in a very long time (6 years I believe unless u were an employee a year or so ago). I’m getting at least one from my go to (great service) and hoping to find at least 1 other. Plenty of other great beers out I will say that but not knowing when the next time this will be released (if ever ) will certainly add to hoarding. If you want a bottle, be quick or you will not like what it will take to trade for one. Cheers! Hope u get one so u can show your buddies what cbs is!

That's definitely possible in 2017, but I will say that when I was really getting hard-core into craft beer (2013, I think), CBS was one of the Holy Grails of BA stouts. I hope you're right that people have moved on.

I do agree that the “not every year” part could totally blow my theory out of the water.

ETA: I’m also hoping Whole Foods’ Black Friday dilutes the pool a bit .....

A Friday vs Saturday release is a factor. It’s also going to be in so many places; i was staggered when I saw the list of suburban Chicago Jewels getting it. My prediction: it will be easier to find on Friday than something like Abraxas, but it will be a tougher find outside of low traffic places/price gouges even by Saturday.

There will be a lot but people will buy a lot to drink over the next year or two, knowing it may not get bottled again for a long time. I think anyone that’s wants it will be able to get it (in most markets). I’m really on the fence how much to buy.

I'll be happy to get two. Maybe three cause I know my brother-in-law will want one.

Anyone know how the Arclight sour release went on Black Friday? Would be interested in stopping there if Soursmith is still going

CBS is the craft beer newbies dream. Add in all the people who have had it since it was first made, it will sell out. I’m getting 4 bottles total-100$ dollars is still a fair amount of money to me. Also, I have no problem with out-of-state people buying it up. Buy away. Just don’t think it will be on the shelf for more than a couple days in populated areas.

Will there be places in Grand Rapids to purchase CBS, outside the brewery this Saturday?

Someone about 10-15 posts up from you mentioned that the GR bottle shops were saying they were expecting 200-300 bottles, so yes.

Thanks. What are some good bottle shops in the area that are worth checking out?

Most are releasing Friday at open so it’s tough saying what will be where on Saturday. You could check Stevensville, Benton Harbor and south haven Meijer on your way over Saturday morning. They are all right off the highway.

I forget the name now, but one prominent GR store posted on Facebook yesterday that they aren't even bothering to set bottle limits, presumably because their supply was so large.

Another store in the Grand Rapids area offered to let customers pre-buy CBS with no limits. When I purchased my 2 bottles they even offered me a $2/bottle discount if I purchased at least a case. And this definitely isn't one of the larger stores in the GR area. I have a feeling there will be a metric shit ton of CBS available on Friday.

    Horrocks

    Siciliano’s

    Rishi’s

Same here. Initially I was OK with the two bottles from the ticketed release but seeing that it will be so readily available in distribution I reserved a couple more bottles. While I still enjoy a good BBA stout, my tastes have shifted more towards wild ales/sours. Fortunately, both Vivant and Speciation are both killing it right now.

I'll add that I have a relatively strong dislike for high ABV beers in large format bottles, as well. Had this been in 12oz bottles, the decision to buy more would have been relatively easy.
