My wife got me a ticket for 12/1 weekend at Founders because I was working. Ticket is in my name but paid for with her credit card. I just read the fine print in which they claim they will check ticket, ID, and purchasing card all for matching names. Yikes!

Excited for my trip to Michigan. Anybody have any suggestions on other places to visit in the area? Liquor stores included.

Call Founders and ask for Luke. He is running this event...very nice guy. I had a similar issue and he helped me out.

As far as liquor stores, look on the previous page of this thread.

For those driving to Founders from out of state, look for bottles of CBS on your way up. Holland and St. Joe would be good towns to look. Also, some stores in GR are doing two releases. I believe D. Schulers is one of them. Don’t be afraid to call a store or look at the store’s Facebook to get info. With a little effort, you should be able to get multiple bottles. Good luck.

I am hoping to score a ticket for the Detroit Taproom sale, it's easier to drive 45 min vs. 2.5 hours each way for only 2 bottles.

I don't want to be a consumer in a craft beer world where asking if a 12 oz bottle of beer is $25 is not done in an non-ironic way. Guessing my time is done.

Similar situation I am in. I purchased the tickets on my credit card but put the name of the person who will be present picking them up. Will this be an issue?

I'm not 100% sure on what will be an issue or not. I was paranoid for having two tickets in my name, so I called and had one of the tickets refunded with no problem.

I'm in Columbus, Ohio. When do we anticipate receiving the first distro of CBS this year?

This week? Next week? Tomorrow? Did I miss it?

This. This is why it will last days.

Also, anyone worried this beer won't actually be good? I think GI has done a great job of scaling production of BCBS and keeping it amazing, if not better. But I always get nervous when any brewery scales a complex beer like this. I mean, look at KBS. Definitely not what it was ca. 2012.

My thoughts are that when CBS was first released it was probably one of few beers of its kind. I did not have the original but I imagine now with beers like Michigan Maple Jesus, Maple Bourbon Biscotti, and others of its kind, maybe CBS is just a pretty good maple bourbon beer and nothing truly earth shattering in today's terms. I expect it to be good, but as someone who doesn't particularly care for maple in beers, I don't expect to fall in love with it. I'll get it on draft Friday at a local restaurant and likely trade whatever bottles I get

I disagree. I think KBS has been very consistent. I think the first time I had it fresh was 2013.

I definitely agree with you... I’ve always felt KBS is very consistent and any difference year to year has more to do with my pallet than the beer itself.

Agree also. My guess is the caves keep it more consistent because of the constant temperature. In warehouses they experience temp fluctuation based on that years weather and I’m sure that has an overall impact. I know they blend and all that good shit but seems like constant temps would play a part. No real knowledge here, just seems to make sense.

Agreed! KBS was one of the first beers I really hunted for. I’ve enjoyed it every year, last years being especially good. I think inflated expectations can ruin just about any beer though. There’s been a lot of really good stuff out lately (this years Prop and triple barrel baptist!) but don’t let that take away from the fact that they’re releasing bottles of something they said they never would again. Personally I’m grabbing as much as I can.

First time in Michigan, can we bottle share before Founders opens?

Given how the release is being handled, there shouldn't be a line, as there isn't really any reason to get there early. But to answer your question, I wouldn't suggest openly drinking in front of the brewery on a city sidewalk.
