For those who saw improvement with age, I'd be curious to hear whether this a pretty common assessment regarding how much time it takes for this to hit its stride. I snagged a few bottles yesterday and am debating how long to sit on the first. I went through a frankly embarrassing number of bottles last year, so I'm not particularly worried about trying it fresh this year.

$30 a bottle as well in MD. Easy pass, will crack the 1 bottle of 2017 I bought last year for $30 during this Xmas season when relatives come over to share. Wait for 12oz format/4 packs in 2019 (lets hope) or just buy other BA stouts and not worry. Plenty of quality ones to choose from out there.

Agree 100%. For any BA stout over 10% ABV, I'm usually good with 5-8 oz max. and quite content.

Well, CBS hit my area last friday and I did just what I said that I would. I bought a 4 pack of the superior Evil Twin Even More Coco Jesus, got more beer oz wise and saved $8. CBS FOMO holds no sway over me.

Heavy adjuncts for lack of a better word IMO tend to fade a bit with time, so what's a maple or a coffee bomb fresh is not so much in a year.

Drink it now and only cellar some if you buy enough

I found it on draft last year and yes, it was pretty good. I just couldn't bring myself to drop $26 plus tax on it with better and cheaper beers sitting right next to it.

I understand. I paid 23.99 plus tax with two bottles under my arm today and I was shaking my head. BUT I will get more. You only live once

For what it's worth, I had a year old Lagunitas Westified and the coffee faded off just enough to show off the base beer and barrel character: so good. Especially when it was only $3 for a single at the store.

As far as addjunks go, coffee seems to drop off quite a bit within six months, but maple doesn't seem to drop off much, if at all.

CBS was released here today, and most stores seemed to get one case, while a few may have gotten two cases. Based on typical demand, they will all have sold by now. Maybe a stray bottle or two will be sold tomorrow. If it shelf-turds elsewhere, they can send spare stock here. While I don't like the high price ($23 to $25 here), it is my favorite beer at the moment so I got five. Craft beer is my hobby, and I spend far less than if I hunted, fished, or golfed.

Reminds me that I still have one bottle left! Might break that out on Turkey Day!

I might actually pass on it this year. It's a freaking delicious beer, but $28.99 a bomber is just so expensive. I don't know if I want to pull the trigger on it, especially since I have car repairs and holiday shopping coming up. Fortunately, however, I found another similar BBA stout that I like just as much or more for $12.99 a four pack...I don't know if I want to mention what it is because I want to keep hype down. Hehe...

Next year take the drive to Buffalo and hit Consumers Beverages on Sheridan Drive, Wegmens and Premier Liquor on Maple road. It would make a fun beerventure. Especially Premier as their selection is the best and always fresh as heck. The last couple of years Consumers on Sheridan has had piles of KBS and CBS and you don't have to pay Horseheads prices. I stopped into the bottle shop in Horseheads on my way to the cabin and was glad I loaded up at Consumers first. After buying 3 for 24.00 the 28.99 felt like a gouge.

I, honestly, would rather spend $100 on a bottle of KBBS than $24+ on a bottle of this swill
