I just had King Henry at a bar yesterday for $28 for the bottle in comparison to $80 on ebay.. I still see KBS for $12 a bottle at certain bars and even BCBS Coffee and BCBS Bramble Rye for less than $30 as well. A nice quality of having certain bars being overrun by college kids who don't truly understand the gold available to them.

CBS is a great beer, but the hype behind this beer has turned into a monster. I walked into Blind Tiger in NYC two years ago and was able to order at least 3 or 4 glasses of CBS without a problem. That would be completely unhead of now. I traded my bottle of CBS for a King Henry a few weeks ago. Needless to say, I'm surprised to hear that it's still out there - especially for $25.

Was lucky enough to try it from the bottle on Tuesday after a buddy of mine somehow got a local shop owner to sell him her last bottle of CBS. We split it between 7 people, but every last drop was awesome. I agree that the hype surrounding this beer is out of hand, but it is (at worst) one of the top 5 beers I have ever tasted.

I can only remember seeing it one time on draft, and you better bet I ordered 3 glasses. A fine drinking night.

I got a lot more maple in the CBS I had a few weeks ago than I did in the one I had shortly after it was released. The blending issue certainly seems like a more likely cause for this phenomenon than the age bringing it out somehow.

KBS from a bottle hasn't impressed me since I was a noob and it was one of the first BA stouts I had.

Definitely. I had some on tap and sampled 2 bottles in the same month of the release. The tap version was incredibly sweet and chocolatey. It was almost like I was drinking Southern Tier Chokolat (blech!). The bottles were much more ashy/less sweet and one had a more noticeable maple flavor. Pretty pathetic considering what you have to pay to get it (trade, ebay, or siginificant retail mark-up)
