Ouch, KBS is $17.99 here. I’ve tried CBS a few times, and I’ve never got any maple on it, just me probably, but I don’t think it’s worth a premium price, and it’s certainly not $7 better than KBS.

In my travels it cost about 24 for a 4 pack in Colorado

I would guess that your local beer retailers would price the CBS at $17.99?

I was a BIG fan of CBS last year and part of the reason was because the maple syrup aspect was very muted.

    "Taste:

The flavor follows the nose with a complex combination of coffee, cocoa, vanilla,… flavors. There is a moderate bitterness. There is nothing specifically that ‘says’ maple syrup to me and frankly that is A-OK with me. There is no perceptible alcohol ‘heat’ with this beer.

    Overall:

    This beer is excellent!"

Bombers at my store are around $18. I’m sure they are tasty but I do not support Founders personally. We buy them for around the same price to resell in the store. We probably only make a dollar off every bottle. 22oz

Please share your thoughts on this beer once you have had the opportunity to taste it.

Maybe make a post in the New Beer Weekend thread?

    Cheers!

Last time I saw KBS it was $20 plus tax for a bomber. I like KBS better, I haven’t seen 4pk of CBS on the shelf.

Those are about a year old now, aren't they?
The KBS variants are going for $23/4-pack here so that's probably about right

One man's reasonable is another man's exorbitant. And that's just how the market is dictated.

I like CBS a lot as well. Maple syrup may be one of my favorite flavors, we make pancakes a lot in our house.

The only other maple stout I love is Lawson’s Fayston Maple, more than CBS, cause maple is the only adjunct in Fayston. Mainly for the same reason, it’s a subtle sweetness and mouthfeel but that is all, it’s not sugary sweet. If you see it and haven’t had I suggest giving it a try, nice and roasty too. Found it locally which has been nice.

$24 for KBS is ridiculous. $16-$18 here.

CBS was $22-24. There are a few places that still have 4-packs, One place marked the 750's down to about $15 to get rid of them. They were approaching 2 years old.

    Thanks for the tip.

My local Retail Beer Distributor has a couple of cases in stock:

    “Lawsons Fayston's 12oz Can 24 Pack 12 Oz. Cans $94.50”

Is this beer sold in four-packs?

My guess is they would price this beer at something in the neighborhood of 20 bucks a four-pack?

    Cheers!

This is the best place in the world for beer. Can’t tell you how many great recommendations I’ve got on here. Beers I would’ve otherwise never tried probably in a lot of cases. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Another spectacular beer that beer nerds would have submitted to gelding, or gelded themselves, between the first and second releases and have now collectively convinced themselves is now a deserving shelf turd.

I don't get enough maple either. Can also barely distinguish between this and the newest KBS variant.

Goes for between $24 and $26 for a four pack in Orange County, NY. For perspective, a single of 2020 Parabola runs consistently around $15. To be fair the Parabola comes in a much nicer cardboard box with a much more detailed description.

Back when CBS was not as readily available it used to be $27 a 750 ml bomber. So yeah 24 for a 4 pack is very reasonable.

Considering that it’s no longer being made, if you like it you might want to grab a few for the cellar or fridge. They lost/gave up the barrels used by Bliss BBA Maple Syrup so can not make the stuff any more.
