That's Cuvee Delphine from DeStruise, it's barrel aged Black Albert (Four Roses Bourbon if memory serves). It was in the "on-deck" circle that night!

It's a phenomenal stout in its own right but very different as it is not bourbon-forward, the barrel aging flavors are very subtle but do add nicely to Black Albert (which is my favorite non-Founders stout)!

see above post. I was more so talking about brand equity. Sorry if I offended you though.

Brand equity is very imporant. Why do you think Ford makes the GT500 - and Chevy the ZR1? They don't make squat on those cars. Yes they are expensive - but their development costs a fortune.

It is also the reason they are already making a new batman movie after the darkknight series. They have to strike while the iron is hot!

They will bottle CBS again, and when they do it will be an absolute shit show to get and it will sell for $8,000 a bottle on eBay the day after its released and scooped up by eBay vendors and their mules.

If I were you Id focus your energy on KBS. I prefered it to CBS. Plus its a lot easier to obtain (although when CBS is released again I am sure I will give up half my cellar again to get another bottle, I do what to side by side it with a KBS).

I am looking forward to KBS.

I still have two FBS's in my fridge that I'll be hanging around in there for awhile. Sucked down the first two pretty quickly.

Cuvee Delphine blows the shit out of all of the Founders beers, IMHO. I don't know why the reviews tend to be so down on that beer... I feel like people don't appreciate complexity sometimes...

Noted. No way am I argue with you on matters of Michigan beer.

I'm not sure how many barrels they've gotten, but it doesn't seem like those are the problem. They've used them for other beers like the beer they released right after CBS in the backstage series, Better Half. And as far as I know, Blis has not gone out of business.

I miss-remembered  Mocha Bomb is actually my favorite DeStruise stout (and Black Albert Variant), and that's almost as good as CBS, something tells me if I get Double Black that will top them all!

Black Albert gets little love because that flavor varied from the 1st batch (Batch 0) this happened because Urbain is an artisinal brewer and was tinkering to improve the beer. People cried that it became "too quad like" like that's a bad thing, subsequently when he re-released Batch 0 (which was back to the original) it still received little love here (I believe it was a top 10 beer when he first released it). Actually, I hope people don't seek it out so the next time he exports it to the U.S. it will sit on the shelf long enough for me to amass a large stash . It still crushes (and I mean crushes) any non-barrel aged stout. I am biased as I consider DeStruise to be the single best brewery in the world. :grinning:

I don't think ebay allows beer sales anymore

Technically eBay never allowed beer saless. Maybe they are enforcing the rule now? I did a quick search, there are still some beer auctions on eBay, but it is significantly cut down. Which is great news.

Honestly, don't get too excited about CBS. I also had a side-by-side with fresh and year old FBS's and KBS's with a CBS, and the CBS was whatever really. If I had another, I would gladly trade it away.

Couldn't agree more. Had CBS and KBS back to back last weekend, and thought CBS was good, but just a tad too sweet for my liking. I prefer KBS, but to each his own.

I'm another person on the I'll take the other-than-CBS Founders stouts bandwagon. CBS was only ok in my opinion, but then again expectations are a tricky thing....and bottled and distributed CBS came with a boatload of them.

I think many are trying to get their hands on a couple bottles in the near future!

Release dates set! You snooze, you lose!
    CBS = Best of Michigan!

I'm a student without a lot of money. It's somewhat expensive, and I'd rather try different beers.

Thats understandable. I just wanted to make sure you weren't keeping it because you're under the impression that you wont be able to get more. It should be readily available until at least January Im pretty sure...if not longer....
