Yeah, I saw a video of the Founders founders and they said that for (3?) weeks in July/August they brew nothing but FBS... so I'd expect it to be around a loooong while.

    Sure is tasty though.

To each their own, but I greatly, greatly prefer KBS and even FBS to CBS.

Yeah. I I think the expanded it this year, but I'm not positive. It used to be available for 3 months but people are saying its going for 6 this year and replacing Cherise somehow. I still saw Cherise this year though so who knows. Their calender does say it goes until February though...

Bolt Cutter - this will be the last release of the Backstage Series for 2012.

I talked with a founders rep back in Feb/March. At that time, he talked like they were going to release it again. But there has been 0 rumors or talk about it, so it doesn't appear like it will be released anytime soon.

Then again, he did mention about how ticked off they were that all the info got leaked before they wanted it to. i'm not expecting to see it this year, but i wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a black note for it this year

Living in Michigan, if you keep your eyes open you should be able to find CBS on tap a few times a year at beer dinners, Founder's tap takeovers, etc.

You won't have to keep tabs, if they do bottle it again (and there was no indicatioin last time either way) trust me - you will know.

CBS is a very good beer, but not even remotely worth the hassle.

You guys need to realize that these *barrel aged, rare, hard to make, expensive* beers are not what makes a brewery money. It's their year round, seasonal beers that make them money. Beers like centennial ipa, imperial stout, reds rye, devil dancer, etc. The amazing and limited beers such as KBS and CBS are made to create hype for the brewery and strengthen their brand name.

From Michigan, people were pretty crazy about it, but people get equally hyped about FBS. Founders has some sick release events. The last time I was at the brewery they didn't have anything special (assuming you don't consider Devil Dancer to be particularly special), but it was still packed in there.

Their Oatmeal Stout on nitro is an ambrosia.

I did something similar with Backwoods bastard - and I've been turning regular Dirty Bastard into a pseudo clone of BWB for the last six months.

They make a CBS equivalent called Slappy Sappy Bastard that's pretty good.

For me, KBS with a year or two on it was better than the only CBS I've had- one that was about a year old, too. It was really deeply layered and incredibly sweet, almost overwhelmingly so, whereas KBS with age is more balanced. If you're a sucker for that maple flavor, though, nothing can touch CBS- it is indeed a phenomenal beer. Last time it was available to my knowledge was this year's Black Party. My friend said that it did not taste like the bottles we had- fresher. I wonder if this was a consequence of being a different (newer) batch, or just that it was on draft rather than bottle (the only way he had experienced it up to that point).

Bolt Cutter is the anniversary beer, not a Backstage Series beer. But distribution is reported to be similar.
