Oh, but it's free market!! There's no such thing as price gouging! We don't need beer! They can charge whatever they want! We don't have to buy it! (This message was brought to you by sarcasm and the predictable response someone is going make about "Price Gouging").

Same here. Paid $11-12 a 4 pack. Picked up 3 of them. I almost feel a little better about Jersey. Even with kbs was only like $6-8 a bottle though when reds rye came out the one store had it for $15! Yeah, they haven't sold any 4 packs and it's a shame it judge sits there but really? They sold the 6 packs last year for $10 so I just smh and picked up $11 4 packs of imperial stout instead.

Whole Foods Foggy Bottom selling it for $16. Weird how two stores from the same chain have absolutely no consistency in price.

Maybe it's an effect of the KBS release, with some of the more ignorant beer buyers thinking that since they can charge over $20 per 4-pack of that now thinking that another Founders special release will generate similar demand. Westover Market did the same with the Founders Russian Imperial last year.

Saw it today at Total Wine in McLean. Around $12 for a 4-pack. Also at the Giant on Rte 7 in Falls Church.

It's often the case that they charge more in DC than VA. More idiots living in DC willing to pay stupid prices is my explanation.

Its probably just higher rents in DC. It could be all the idiots though.

It's probably a dumb question, but wouldn't Whole Foods own their store space for each store?

No I seriously doubt it, they're a grocery business just like any other, and they all rent their space. Even if they did own it though, it would cost more to buy. Point is, Founder's Curmudgeon isn't the only thing that's more expensive in DC.
