I liked this beer and Really want to have another go at it but it sells at 24$ a 4 pack here. Kind of hard to justify that...

I hated it last year - drinking a 2013 right now and I'm glad I gave it a second chance. A lot better than last year. Much hoppier and less of that straight onion flavor. I'm actually really enjoying it, when last year I was tempted to drain pour it. I'm glad they fixed the recipe!

Isn't that frustrating? I hate when that happens with hoppy beers. Hoptimum arrived 6 weeks after being bottled:slight_frown: I was like WTF!

It changes a lot in a year. I am excited to try it fresh this year. My last two years fresh were ok but not my favorite. After a year it mellows a lot and the malt/caramel notes are more prominent but still retains a good hop bite. Sounds like it is different by posts above and may be more approachable fresh. I get 4 and hold two back. Great one to share. Cannot wait.

    Have not had Rubeaus-recommended?

Honestly i like it, its a raspberry ale. It has a taste of raspberry jam with a little malt background but it is a ton better then cerice so if you really like raspberries it is a pick up for sure. It is one of the beers that my gf likes a lot and that i can drink too.

Willing to give it a try... my beer guy called yesterday and said he'd hold me a 4/pack. I'm OOT, so I'm glad he called. Think it's going to be hard to find in GA this year. Total Wine already sold out.

Yeah I have seen this as well, super disappointed in the way this is being released in Michigan right now, because it seems a bunch of other states already have theirs, its a true first world problem, I always want all of my favoritebreweries new beers piped straight to my house so I can have it the moment its ready!

I've never cellared it because in the past I usually only get a bottle or two, but hearing everyone's reports, I will probably save a couple bottles and see how they hold up over time.

Had it fresh today at the taproom and picked up a 4 pack. Holy good lord the hops smack you in the face in a good way. Talked to someone there and they said a max of 1 yr in the cellar. I got 2 in the fridge and 2 in the cellar.

    Doubt it.

It's been out for a couple days and hasn't moved in the places I've looked at.

There's a pile of it at a local place and I'd bet it'll sit for a while longer. Never had to "chase" this beer.. ever.

So, I'll disagree. Won't be hard to find. Not many folks are poppin out $20 a 4 pack and going back for more.

Who says they "fixed" the recipe. Is it possible that your palate has changed?

It seems many others are agreeing that it much more palatable this year.. But yes , it is quite possible that my palate adapted, or perhaps the hop variations this year were more suitable to my tastes!

Anyone know when/if this is reaching the NoVA/DC area? I had exactly one bottle of DD last year and thought it was great, would like to grab a 4 pack to get a bigger sample of it this time around.

Red Wagon in Rochester is getting it today. I'm low on that list though. B.B.'s in Shelby is getting it on Monday. I'm first on that list so I should be good. Anyone who is waiting on those locations should expect a call soon.

None has popped up around here yet. I look forward to grabbing a fresh bottle. I've got four of the 2012s to compare it to. Cracked one the other day to have back to back with the formerly putrid 2011. It was very barleywine-like. As for the 2011, two years made a massive positive difference. It went from massively sweet and stanky liquid onions to pure liquid bud.
