I guess I am missing something but Gubna and last years Devil Dancer neither one tasted anything like onions or garlic to me. I actually liked this years Gugna but last years Devil Dancer was a little underwhelming compared to the 2011 IMO. Unfortunately I cannot get Founders where I now reside so I guess my chances of finding out if this years has improved is slim and none.

had this the past 4 years. 2011 fresh was indeed an onion & garlic surprise (not in a good way). Every other year fresh was fantastic imo. 2011 was great with some age. Just popped one and still has mouth battering hops. Agree with others on the thread that this doesn't fit neatly in a standard category. I see it as an insanely hopped American Barley and love to drink 1 fresh and let er' age.

Anyone have any idea why they charge so much for this beer? Is it really that expensive to make? I bought one single just to try it but the 4 pack seems on the surface to be one of the most overpriced on the market. I hope the experience is worth the price of admission.

It's the summit hops. Some people don't get the onion and garlic and sometimes it depends on when the hops were harvested.

The bit I had last year, were like a wet fresh onion sprinkled with garlic powder. Not something I like, and I also don't like Gubna.

I'm not gonna bother with this years.. $20 a 4 pack, and it's a beer I just don't enjoy that much. Love me some of the most abrasive and bitter IPA's, but this one, just doesn't do it. Founders could drop this off their line up with little to no argument.

Wow that is amazing. Until I got into these discussions here I had never experienced that or heard from anyone else who had. Now I do love onions and garlic so I wonder if that may affect how I percieve the taste? Now I am going to drive myself crazy looking for that taste whenever I see Summit Hops in the mix...Thanks (I think....lol) for the info!

I still can't find this stuff in Fredericksburg, VA. The Total Wine people claim it's held up in their distribution warehouse or some crap.

ISO:4 pack Devil Dancer, trade for Simtra and Hop Shortage, or Pliny, your call. And I loved the 2011 version. Still display the 4 pack holder as a trophy on my mantle. Did I mention I am from California?

Had Devil Dancer last night for first time. Not really impressed. Would not buy again, especially at the price it is at.

I'll buy a few of these any time I can get them. Is it the best IPA out there? Absolutely not. But I respect it nonetheless for being absolutely insane.

We're finally getting it around here tomorrow...but they're selling it $4.99 per bottle, with a 1 bottle limit. To be honest I'm okay with that, so that I can try it out before spending $20 on a 4 pack I may not like.
