I recently recieved my order of Funders Doom from my distributor and the case cost was $186 which means at a resonible retail price its gonna be 20-21.99 a bottle, while 2 weeks ago i had went to a friends store in RI and bought a bottle for 13.99 and his case cost was only $109. I know state taxs are different but theres no way the case cost should have been 70 plus dollars more!!!!! This pisses me off so much i called founders and complained, they told me this seemed wrong to them and i'm waiting on the rep for the state to call me back. Anyone else have any feedback on this?? Is the ditributor marking up the price on us??

It certainly sounds like your distributor is hosing you and your customers on a limited release. I'm sure they will say "oops, pricing error, sorry" after Founders says something.

bottle cost is $10.49 FYI. Normal mark up would be $13.49-13.99 at the most. You got seriously shafted my friend

Tell you what... pay me in NEBCo beers and I'll stand by the DOOM wearing a John "Hannibal" Smith worthy disguise and tell them it's the distributor's doing.

I would also love to know why. I wonder if they're just setting the price based off of Boltcutter. I paid $22 at a shop which never price gouges and the store said they only priced it a buck or two over cost.

My packy in Storrs is also charging $21. He said his cost was $15+. I bought 2 4pks of Double Trouble instead for barely much more. 8 beers for $23 or 2? Not a hard choice

I spoke with ewhitford and we compared our prices from distributors. I am in a different county and we paid much much less for the case so this is definitely a case of the distributor messing with the price or a mistake on the invoice.

Bought a Doom at a store last week for $12.99. Went to the same store today to pick a few other beers and the price was now $21. Tell me how that works?

There clearly were mistakes made on invoices. If you paid $12.99 or whatever consider it an early Christmas present. That's well below the true intended cost.

$12.99 is a great price but that doesn't explain the $20+ others are seeing. Looking at prices around $14-17 seems reasonable. More appears to be gouging at some level. How is there that much disparity out there in the state? Interested to see the response from Founders.

Yesterday I found one bottle on the shelf at Grand Wine & Spirits in Groton for $23.99, which I purchased. Today I stopped in Ocean State Liquor in Westerly, RI just to grab some wine. I dont expect much in the way of craft beer from this store, yet they had at least 10 bottles of Doom on a shelf marked at $13.99. I felt like I was the victim of extreme price gouging on behalf of Grand.

Normal beer mark up would for what i got was 13.99, which means 14.99-16.99 i feel would be fine to price at, also my case cost was $126 for 12, meaning your distributor is screwing you guys or mad a terrible clerical error.

Hopped over the border yesterday, and DeCicco's has them for $17, and they're known to be a bit pricey. Another store in NY had 6+ on the shelves for $13.99.
