    Yes, this seems to be their regular practice as of late -- they did the same for KBS and Black Note as well.

    No, I don't see tweets from them about beer -- your best bet is to just stop by and ask if they think they'll be getting stuff in.

    Is there a go-to guy you ask? I went up for a beer at the bar the other day and the guy behind the bar seemed clueless on beers.

    When I went to buy Stone's Espresso IRS, they had it in the back - it's out on the shelves now. Usually I just call and ask for specialty beer (and I'm pretty sure the person working the bar upstairs is the one that answers) and ask but such and such beer.

    This isn't just "as of late." They've been doing this for at least a couple of years now. I remember back in late 2010 and early 2011, they didn't put Bourbon County or Hopslam on the shelf and you had to ask for them. Those were my first experiences with this practice.

    I actually think calling is your best bet. Whoever is answering the phone when you ask for beer & wine is typically a lot more knowledgeable than whatever random guy you're going to find in the store.

    Dammit, I saw the Smoked Barleywine on the shelf there a couple days ago not the Espresso IRS. Guess I'm gonna walk over in a minute and look upstairs as well.

    I believe TW Alexandria may still have some in stock -- you have to ask for it at the customer service desk, they keep it behind the counter -- but you may want to call first before trekking out there.

    between my homebrew and my retail beers i don't have much room for more beers a trek to TW would give me... but i'll probably still check it out.

    I just picked up a bottle from Magruders, Chevy Chase about 30 min ago. Had to ask for it though. Still had 2 more bottles when I was there.

    haha. that's funny. lady i spoke to said i got the last bottle. they prob have another case in the back for all they know. prob next to the KBS.

    Yeah, there was some question about whether they were being held for people or for sale. Might be what caused the confusion.
