I know that Butcher/Boar had this on tap last night, but couldn't make it. Does anybody know of any other places tapping this?

Princeton's was out in under 2 hours. Really?? Is this gonna be another truck chaser release?

My better half got me one from princetons; she said they had 4 left at 1:12pm...so it was probably closer to 75-90 min sell out.

I, as a normal 7-4 working man, am damn tired of these mid-day releases of rare beer. Fine, so you (the liquor store) got the beer...do you HAVE to put it out it out the SECOND you get it? how about you wait until 5-7pm to release it. or do like F44 and do a morning release on a WEEKEND. Most of us have 9-5 jobs. Only the people with no life or a job that they can leave at any time get this stuff...If she hadnt gone out and gotten me a bottle I have no doubt it would be hard to find one.

let the working man start a petition; release rare beer at a time when the majority of people are not working.

Founders Backstage Series releases have all been crazy in my experience. Wasn't expecting anything less with this one.

As long as this is true: # people who want rare beer > # of rare beer available

Then there will always be someone who is unhappy.

I can still find bottles of Bolt Cutter and Frangelic Mountain Brown on shelves in Des Moines. I think this one is going to move quickly though.

well what of the people who work most weekends or work odd hours like 12 - 8 or something? these releases are difficult no matter how you stack it, at least you got a bottle, tons of people won't.

    Agreed.

I got lucky today. Working in health care means working odd hours. Stopped by Princeton's on the way to work in MPLS and watched a guy grab the last bottle (kudos to him!). Beer karma came back around as I then stopped at the firkins and grabbed their last bottle. Got lucky on this one. Made it to work on time too

I like how South Lyndale does some releases, half when it comes in and half for the 9-5ers sure they usually sell out quickly at each time but atleast its an attempt to accommodate as many as possible.

This is what im advocating. Put 1/3 on sale at noon, 1/3 at 7pm, 1/3 at noon on saturday. obviously these stores sell out instantly so its not like 'if they dont sell it now the demand wont be there'.

I know that some people would be screwed if they put it on sale at 7pm, but im looking at Utility. Utility being defined as 'to produce the greatest happiness or the greatest good for the greatest number of people'. I think an evening or weekend release would have the most utility. Bottle Limits also have great utility.

When it comes to these limited beers, as long as there is a bottle limit in place the same amount of people will be upset no matter what time they put it out there. If there is 1 case at the shop, 24 people will be happy and everyone else will not be. I'm all for a one bottle limit on these kinds of beers (which is pretty much the norm.), and putting them out these whever the shop wants to. I may be one of the lucky 24, or more likely, I won't. There are always other shope, or trading, or bar releases, or tastings, or next year.

This is coming from a guy who works close to Princeton's, but is also not able to leave work and missed out on Doom today.

So they get 12 bottles and should only put 4 out staggered at various times. That works great for Darkness where there are several cases, but not for super limited stuff.

Also, there are many beer drinkers who work other hours, multiple jobs, and some who can't afford the limited stuff. There are enough stores releasing enough at various times and in various methods that you should be able to find one that does it the way that works for you. Not every store needs to do it the same way, and not every store needs to do it the way you want. I don't like when stores raffle off the beer with tickets you get from buying other beer. I choose not to patron those places for regular beer. You have found stores whose process you like, so continue to shop there. Forcing others to adopt the method you prefer doesn't sound good to me.

Right. I'm the 5th guy in the door. "You got any Doom?"
"Yeah, we got some in the back, but we're going to put it out later, for the guys who couldn't be here 10 minutes ago."
"But I couldn't be here 10 minutes ago."
    "Sorry. Come back at 6."
    "But I can't be here at 6."
    "Sorry."

I think I would be highly disappointed.
