And have you tried contacting Founders? They've always been extremely helpful for me, and told me which distributor to call when I was in a similar situation. Cheers

Yeah, for once we got the better end of the deal. There's tons of it. Let me know if you want a fresher 4pk or two...or three...lol.

    Happy 4th of July!

Heh.. thanks, but I'll be fine drinking the dusty and crusty May bottles. Life's tough.

I drank a four pack last night. There was a whole lot of freedom going on!

6/17/14 date, $10 for a four pack, what the hell happened? Guess I am becoming a regular at the bottle shop!

I don't really grasp how others don't have a fairly rigid memory of how a beer tasted the year prior, especially if they had that beer dozens of times in the past and included tasting notes. I've been graced with many tasty hoppy beers lately, so it's not as if my taste buds are suddenly incapable of tasting the strength of hops. Hop strength and character remain in my memory if memorable, as Double Trouble in prior years was.

People have opinions of seasonal releases. Sometimes it's criticism. Deal with it. Lagunitas Sumpin Extra and 077xx, two fellow recent DIPA releases, shit all over this year's Double Trouble, which - as many posts in this thread can attest to - is more malt-forward this year.

I'm getting sick of some posters attempting to discredit subjective tasting opinions by questioning one's memory capabilities. It's rather childish. Seasonal releases are frequently altered, to adjust for many factors ranging from increased distribution to hop availability and cost. To not take that into account suggests you don't know much about how beer is made at a large brewery.

I wasn't aware these threads were supposed to just be a tastebud-inhibiting circle jerk.

Could have sworn I saw "Dub Trub" at a popular store in Western Mass. weeks ago, but it was priced exorbitantly at around $16-$17 a fourpack, so I passed. Haven't seen it yet anywhere else. The clerk at one of my go-to stores had never even heard of it when I asked two days ago, so possibly my sighting was mere wishful thinking, or the first store had coincidentally discovered a backroom stash of last year's issue. The only time I have had DT before was last fall when a single fourpack turned up at a good price at another store. Despite its age I still found it delicious.

def glad i picked this up. excellent fruity sweetness that make for my favorite ipa's. perfect bitterness on the back end too. i recently had a few really fresh headhunters that i though were too bitter on the back, for a frame of reference.

not much of a head though, for those who care about that sort of thing

Picked up a 4-pack out east in Suffolk today. Bellport Dave's. Picked up a bunch of nice stuff including some solid central waters. First time at the store and was very impressed. Saw a few 4-packs of Double Trouble dated 5/29/14. Just cracked one and I must say I am very disappointed. I have had Double Trouble many, many times before and this batch is just a malt bomb. 6 weeks after bottle date and all the hops are gone?? What in the world is that about? Even my homebrews retain their hoppy qualities a month after bottling. I've had DT a month+ after bottling before and it was not as malty as this. Still had its citrus qualities. This however, is just utter crap. Glad I only bought a 4-pack. Thoroughly disappointed, especially since DT is not cheap in these parts for a 4-pack.

Other than your anger, I actually agree with you on your assessment of this year's DT and Sumpin Extra and 077xx, all of which I've had very recently. Of course, I only had one DT so far, so I can't discount palate fatigue just yet.

I guess that post does sound angry. but really, I'm not angry at all. just sayin seasonal releases will have variance in quality from year-to-year in some cases.

either way it's still a good beer and really drinkable at 9%.

Mine was dated 5/29 I believe and tasted pretty damn good.
