Founders Fest 2013

I know it may sound crazy, but I can't really enjoy those Tier 3 brews in that kind of heat. All Day and Wheat kept me very satisfied throughout the day.

 

I totally get that for sure, but its stout season year round for me

 

I got in line because if they put a beer on you really wanted and only got in line then, you wouldn't get it. For example, while I was in line, they put KBS on. People who got in line after they put it on the board completely missed out. At one point, the staff thought it was pretty funny to write "CBS" on the board, only to erase it and write "Doom". The event promised "rotating taps" and only one tap ever rotated, and that was to put KBS on twice.

I'm not counting the firkins. Those were nothing more than dressed up Class I brews, not to mention they were served at 80 degrees.

I guess I just expected more. If I'm going to travel all the way to GR to drink some beer, I'm going to make sure it's something worth my drive. I can get Doom, Bolt Cutter, and Backwoods here on shop shelves still.

I got to hear 20 minutes of FBC all Stars and then G. Love's set. The rest was muffled by the buildings that the specialty tent was squeezed between.

If you were expecting a festival of super rare beers and a minimal line while watching some music I'd recommend coming to the Black Party. As for Founders Fest - grab some All Day and enjoy the sunshine and awesome bands. That's what it's about.

 

I didn't go, but I'm pissed off anyway.
