Has anyone come up with even a rough recipe for this wonderful brew?

    Type of hop(s), etc...?

Even some steering hints and clues or good guesses would be great...

    Thanks.

Well, it's a wet hopped beer, so you've got a good 6 months to come up with a recipe.

Should have said that I understood that.

What I'm looking for is a close approximation with pellets. Thanks.

I would love to have an extract recipe that came somewhat close to this great beer as well... one of my favorites!

Can't help with the grain bill. Hops are said to be 80% Simcoe and 20% local grown Cascade. That is what I remember.

Just to play the part of naysayer, you really can't expect to make a clone of a wet hopped/harvest beer without the fresh wet hops. When using wet hops, the bittering, flavor and aroma from the hops seems to change quite a bit and that won't come though quite the same with dried hops. Also, another factor is the presence of a chlorophyll flavor, which would go away in the drying process as well.

With that said, if you find the recipe...I am sure the beer will turn out fantastic, just not close enough to call a clone of Founders Harvest in my mind.

Thats nuts! I managed to get a couple bottles via trades, and thought Harvest had some incredibly strong pineapple and tropical fruit notes, that I've never got with any Simcoe (Leaf or pellet) or Cascade (Wet or Pellet/Leaf) I've used. I need to find that hopyard!

No one with a recipe? Looks like I'll start a general harvest ale thread instead.

    Do you have homegrown hops?

Next year I will. Planted two cascade plants this year, a thirds going in next year. Early enough to grow a fair amount of vines, thou too late to produce. Here's it a couple weeks ago, early / mid August.

    All cascades?

Let the hops shine with a simple malt bill.
    For an IPA
    95% 2-row
    5% crystal malt of choice
Bitter to a certain level with a good bittering hop (I am not a fan of cascade for bittering anyway)
then, the fun. Wet hops weight approximately 4-5 times more than when dried, so...maybe 5 ounces each at 15, 10, 5 and 10 ounces at flameout.

Agreed on the not using cascade for bittering. I'll use centennial at 60 and 30 as I've heard that's what's in Founders Harvest Ale anyways. US-05?

Centennial is a great bothering hop, and US-05.is always a good choice in my mind.
