Hey folks. I'll be visiting Grand Rapids sometime in October and I was wondering about the chances of drinking Harvest Ale in Founders taproom at any point once it is produced. Is it typically available throughout the month at the taproom, or sporadically? Or (please, god, no!) one or two days? I skimmed reviews but was unable to come up with a reliable guess, so I figured readers of the forum would know one way or the other.

Harvest party is October 17, that is the first day that it is on tap. It's usually on for a couple weeks after that. Great beer can't wait!!!

They had bottles a week prior to the party last year. Don't remember if it was tapped beforehand.

This seems to be the one annual release beer they release as fast as its bottled (as opposed to trying to release it all on the same day). I can verify that it hit bottles / shelves before the release party last year. And I'm pretty sure it was in the tap room for most of October.

The 17th is the official tap release, the information is on their website and their facebook. It won't be on tap before the party. Cheers!

Is Harvest Ale distributed all over Michigan or is it pretty limited like KBS?

It is distributed, but it goes pretty quick

But to most beer stores, or just a few? (I'm in SE Michigan).

I thought it was everywhere, but I am in GR. I'm fairly certain it gets pretty good distribution state wide.

Most. Any decent beer store will get some. But yeah, buy it within a few days or you'll miss out.

Also, it tends to show up in most other states before it pops up in SE Mich. Not that this is at all relevant to your question, I just wanted an excuse to bitch about it again.

I was in a store in SW michigan this past weekend and saw a couple 4-packs on the shelf and got excited. Dated 2014 :grimacing:

Wow. When I lived in DC I was lucky to get 2 bottles, and that was 4 years ago. A couple years later and I literally never saw it. Figured it was the same everywhere, hope I can score some in IN this year. One of my all-time favorite beers.

All over the place all fall last year in SW Ohio. You will most likely get lucky in IN.

I live in GR, so we might be a little different, but heck I saw it in the spring time still on shelves.
