No, I can't remember the exact percentage, but for years it was sub-7% before moving to this stronger version the past few years.

Going back to 2011/2012, reviews refer to the ABV being 6.5%. Here is a review noting the change.

2013 must have been the first year at 7.6% then, found an old empty the other day in my garage.

3 year old empty bottles??!!! Get over to the recycling center (or I suppose any grocery store since MI has returnables)!

Last year for whatever reason didn't quite taste as good for me, even fresh. This year is the exact opposite! Favorite wet hopped IPA by far.

For some reason I saved a bunch of single empty Founders Bottles. Furniture City Stock Ale anyone?

$3 per bottle is a bit much but once again, I finished my fourth bottle and wished I would have picked up a second 4-pack. Stuff is cleaned out within 48 hours in MI.

I've had Shorts, Greenbush, Victory, and Founders Wet Hop beers so far this year and Founders has been the best thus far.........

At $12/4-pk, this comes out to the same as $5.50/bomber. Sounds like a steal to me for the quality of the brew.

It's been more like $13-15 in my area, but I'm still glad it's in a four-pack and not a $7 bomber or something. Most Michigan breweries are pretty good about that though.

    False.
Thanks, I thought it may have been even lower. No change in the recipe if I recall though

Should we debate semantics? The ABV in 2013 was 7.6%. 2013 was a "few" years ago.

Alright I should have said "several" instead of "few".

Bought 4-packs at Founders for $11.99 and $14.99 near me yesterday. Both worth every penny, can't speak for other years, but 2016 batch is outstanding!! Going to sell the store out now!!

While that's all well and good, Founders Harvest Ale existed prior to 2013 and used to have an ABV of 6.5%. I personally liked the lower-ABV version better.

EDIT: I note others have already chimed in noting that it used to be 6.5%.

One other thing, my understanding is the hops change somewhat from year-to-year depending on what fresh hops Founders acquires that year, so that may also contribute some to changing perceptions.
