Is looking official now. The facebook page for J. Ryan's in Syracuse mentioned something about Onondaga Beverage signing a deal with Founders, and shipments are about six weeks out.

Marcy Beverage's facebook page (Utica area) said that Founders is officially coming to that part of the state (Tri-Valley Beverage would be the distributor there, I'm assuming) anywhere from a couple weeks to a month out—and that it's a sure thing.

    Good news, I'd say!

I was talking to Bob yesterday, everyone is pretty excited about it. I'm really curious what our allotments are going to be on the limited stuff.

Very true. Interesting news, I'm excited to get Founders but not excited by the prospect of CBS-like scenarios, should that kind of thing happen again.

Great News!!! I'd like to try some of the limited stuff but their "regular" beers are still really good. Yeah!

Yeah honestly I'm more psyched for their regular stuff. Well, quasi-regular. FBS, Imperial Stout, Harvest, etc. It'll be great to see the limited stuff in stores too, but I'm happy avoiding any CBS-type fiascoes around here.

I am with both of you! To get pumped up for Founders, I grabbed a breakfast stout out of the cellar. It has been a long time coming for Founders to come to CNY. I can only imagine being able to seek out these brews on the shelves. J Ryan's does a great job with having some here or there, but to be able to take home a 6pk or 4pk... that is probably the biggest thing to happen for craft beer in this area for quite some time

You may be right. I'm more psyched for Founders coming into the area than I am about Firestone Walker certainly, and they're the most interesting / anticipated new distro we've had recently that I can think of.

Hey. I'm all for new beer. Still waiting on Cigar City, Captain Lawrence, or Stillwater (I may be alone on that one, but whatever) to make into the area (-:

Well said on the new beer entries into our market.

IMO, I think this is the hit list for the beer houses:
New Belgium (they are expanding and will need to move liquid)
Captain Lawrence (he is rolling out the six packs and for goodness sakes he is 4 hours away)
Cigar City (again, expanding and are already in NYC.... I snagged a 6pk from Bob last month at J Ryans for $8)
Bells (expanding and yes I heard the rumors Larry Bell doesn't want to distribute in NY)

I am sure there are way more, but I think logically Founders was already in NYC so why not come up here. Others will have to follow suit. All in all, CNY has a bulk of Wegmans which makes it enticing enough for brewries to sign on. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. Syracuse deserves it!

Was surprised to find Founders Pale Ale, Dirty Bastard, Porter, and one other at Sam the Beer Man in Binghamton yesterday. I know these have been in Ithaca for a while but I was under the impression they were driving them up from downstate themselves.

They may have been doing the same thing in Binghamton, but from Pennsylvania. PA gets Founders, right? Either way, you just need a C license to carry out-of-market products. J. Ryan's in Syracuse has one, for example, and I'm guessing the guys at Fingerlakes Beverage in Ithaca have one, too.

Awesome news regarding Founders. Do you know approximately when we will see Firestone WALKER in these parts? I've seen the occasional bottle of Abacus, but I think these were brought up from NYC or some other locale.

Yeah man, sixers of Union Jack, Union Jack & Double Jack draft, and FW seasonal bombers are all over CNY, as far as I know.

Union Jack and their proprietors reserve series is all over. I want to see DBA come this way so badly, their aren't enough craft brewers playing with bitters.

Yeah I have picked up a few Double Jack and a Porter from the PRS at Sam the Beer Man in Binghamton and FLBC in Ithaca. Sucaba is also considered PRS. Has anyone seen it in Ithaca/Binghamton area? I have not got to either in a while...

lovindahops-praise be, how did you come by the SURLEY tumbler>???? I hit Founders a couple times a year in GR visiting family. Nothing like Backwoods Bastard straight from Founders' own taps.

Had the sucaba in the area at the beginning of the month, judging by the demand for it at my store I would be a bit surprised if there was more around.

Top breweries I would love to see here: (in no particular order)
    1. Surly
    2. Bells
    3. Alpine
    4. Three Floyds (again)
    5. Cigar City

Yeah, I'd love to see all of those around here too, but I think the only one of those likely to happen anytime soon is Cigar City. I'd love to see New Belgium around here too, but that's probably another year or two out, until they feel comfortable stretching out into this part of the country. Cigar City, not sure when, but it's a likely step.

So, tonight i drank a CC Jai Alai, a Zobie Dust, and I am finishing with an Abrasive. Its a good thing I have a regular New Glarus/Surly trading partner. Otherwise I would suffer greatly. I dont think Alpine is out of the realm and if you watched recent interviews with Omar from Surly, He would love for a much broader dist. Dare to dream
