I'm with the "WTF?!, this is for wooing new customers" crowd but, Let's keep it real... Founders got the money from that keg lol - Hay Merchant can do what they want with it at that point.

We'll just have to hit up the Saucers or whoever has that 4th Keg.

Yeah...I hate to say this because I really love Hay Merchant, but that move completely deflates the anticipation and excitement for the Founders release. I bet Founders would rather give the keg to another bar willing to sell the beer to new drinkers on day one. Oh well. At least I now know where I'll be this Wednesday. And six or however many months from now after I've forgotten all about this, it'll be the awesomest thing in the world that Hay Merchant has an aged keg of KBS for me to try.

You just made nothing but sense.

Does anybody know where that 4th keg will be? - I'm hearing Petrol.

Aging the keg seems absolutely insane to me. KBS is one of the best "fresh" BA stouts out there, and, generally, doesn't improve with age, at least out of bottles it hasn't. Seems like a DICK MOVE to me.

I keep hearing things about a barrel-aged beer class or dinner. Maybe KBS will be a part of it and it happens sooner than later.

KBS does NOT improve with age. The coffee and bourbon barrel flavors fade over time. You might start to get a green pepper taste from the faded coffee. The coffee and barrel flavors is what makes that beer taste so great when it's fresh. What a stupid move. They might as well age the IPA's they get also.

Great. I'd only have to pay $100 for a beer dinner for a chance to try KBS from one of the four kegs that got sent to Houston? Awesome.

And the Hay Merchant bashing continues. Their beer dinners are bad ass by the way. The last one was $75 and went to a charity for Ash.

Also, I have not read anything from HM saying they are holding on to this. Not saying it is not true, just that until I hear something from Kevin it is just hearsay right now.

From what I gathered from them, what they plan to do is either host a dinner or a Sunday lunch where the beer is part of a lineup...

    HOWEVER

It will not be reserved specifically for that dinner. Meaning that if the beer is going to be used for a Sunday Lunch that starts at noon, then the beer will be tapped and available to the public that day at noon. It will not be reserved just for those that bought tickets to the dinner.

I was with Phil last night when they said this, but I never saw a label approval, and if I recall, I thought they said it was going to the cellar until they can sell it.

Not sure why people are getting all but hurt about them doing what they want with their beer. Founders never even officially said they were shipping KBS for any event, only specified what places said they would carry their beer.
