I have a 1/4 of Founders KBS coming to me preordered. I currently run Guinness as well as four other beers on tap. my Guinness barrel is recently kicked and I was thinking of putting the KBS on the nitro . I have a extra American shaky that I could use. What do you think? good idea or jeopardy of ruining the barrel?

I don't know the technicalities of this, but I am under the impression that any kegged beer can be pushed with nitro, but if it wasn't specifically prepped by the brewer for nitro, then it won't be properly infused with nitro (at best). Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Since you have never tried this before, you might be risking carbonation issues with your KBS.

I've had it on nitro at Founders and feel it does KBS a disservice.

Agreed, didn't care for it much on nitro. But to be fair, I don't care for much of anything on nitro.

You can indeed use the Guinness gas to dispense any beer. But you shouldn't.
Further, the gas blend used for Guinness is only 25% CO2. So you would need to dial in 28 psi to maintain proper vols, or dispense at 12 psi and watch your beer go flat. It will come out like a cannon shot at 28 psi. 75% N is mostly there to force the beer through the screen in the Stout faucet. Or a long draw system. I digress...

Do you mean to use a Stout faucet? Because that is another subject. If the beer was not packaged for dispense through a Stout faucet do not put it through a Stout faucet. The vols in ordinary beer will make for an awesome beer shake.

If that beer in the keg was not prepared to be served with nitro you'll run into major foaming issues. Typical draft beer is carbonated to 2.5 volumes of co2 while beer prepared to be served with beer gas is around 1-1.5 volumes. What will happen is when you push the beer with through the stout faucet with the high presssure needed for nitro it will force all the co2 out of suspension creating glasses of foam.
