Founders KBS Release (2014)

Welp, I'm making my long trek out with a bud of mine tomorrow to Grand Rapids, we're aiming to arrive around 3pm. I'd love to try KBS on tap, though I'm debating between just fighting the inevitable insanity of getting a glass Saturday (we're staying over night), or dropping by Ucello's or Billy's Lounge. Does anyone local to the area have recommendations on which place would be likely to be less busy/nicer in atmosphere? Have all the places tapping KBS been utterly insane this week?

Otherwise, I'm perfectly set with just dropping by at Founders to grab my KBS and glasses, then having some taproom goodness. Is Panther Club still on tap? I'm almost more excited about that than KBS, it sounds like CBS without the bourbon barrel. Also, I know this is a long shot, but are either Imperial Stout or Smoked Porter bottles still for sale?

Panther Cub is awesome and only time will tell if it's still flowing when you arrive.

Lots of Imp St bottles, no smoked porter in the cooler but you can still get a growler of it.

Go to the events and see if it's a shitshow, if it is, leave and go to one of the dozens of good alternative bars/brewpubs in the area.

 

Lots of both Smoked Porter for sale around town yet. Imp Stout should be available in the merch room. If you have troubles finding Smoked Porter BM me and I'll send you some names of shops that have it.

 

I'm curious if I'll be able to sit down and get something to eat on saturday? Also I know there are a lot of great places around GR, what are some other must stops? Any beers I also should try? Appreciate any tips

Damn, it looks like Panther Club popped last night, I really hope there's another class 3 put up today ;(

 

when i was in yesterday the bar folks claimed they had 1 keg of panther for each day.

 

Oh boy, I really hope that's the case! I've been eyeing it out since I first saw it on the website Tuesday. It just sounds like an orgasm in the mouth to me.

 

When you drink Panther Cub, make sure you dont make the same mistake as me and order a think wonderful stout before it...Was very thin to me because of it...Looking forward to maybe having one before kbs tomorrow if its still on tap by the time I get there

 

I will keep this in mind and start the outing with it then!

 

My first sip I was so disappointed...then as I drank some water and let it warm a bit, it started really shining..

 

Maybe it's because of all the malts?

Panther Cub just kicked for today (Friday) (5 PM ET) for those looking to try some this evening.

 

Got a seat at the bar at 3, right after Panther Cub was tapped. Still sitting here at 5 and it's gone. Overheard the bartender say there might be another keg left for tomorrow. However, both BA Red's Rye and MF Donkey Stout are fucking great and still flowing!

 

Confirmed, also sitting at the bar. They will have another Panther Cub tapped tomorrow.
