Not sure if anyone has noticed but the Backstage Series website has been updated to reflect a silhouette of July (much like it was before Doom was announced). Could it be Spite or maybe a Blushing Monk return? I don't think they'd do a heavy stout in the summer and most likely avoid two IPA's in a row.

Could possibly release a stout that needs some aging? Thus intended to be drank around the holidays. Just throwing guesses out at this point obviously

Could be although Founders typically advises against aging their beers. I asked on Twitter what cellaring recommendations they had for Bolt Cutter and the response was that they aged it to the point where they felt it was best for consumption immediately. Obviously the beer will continue to mature if stored properly but would go against the brewery releasing a beer that is intended to be aged.

    Lol does not compute

Did not know this. That being said I'd have to agree that a blushing monk rebrew is possible. Maybe a blueberry version to mix it up a bit?

Yeah, I don't know why they would say that. In some instances, their beer has fallen off. I've had CBS and agree that the maple has faded with time. Could be why they said that for BC.

Hmm for them to already have a scheduled month I would doubt it would be a barrel aged beer. They were very aloof about Doom and kept saying they didn't know when it would be released.

I can see why they would say that, the awesome maple finish of fresh Bolt Cutter is already quite muted. However, it was too hoppy fresh and has become, overall, a better beer. But then, I find American barleywines in general are far too hoppy fresh, and am targeting 6-8 months as the sweet spot for Bolt Cutter, based on my personal tastes and desire to have muted hoppiness while maintaining some of the maple.

I wouldn't put a ton of thought into styles they would avoid due to the time of year, FMB doesn't scream July beer to me. A sweet, coffee, hazelnut brown, but I do hope they go with something a little more palatable for the season.

I just put 3 750s of Bolt Cutter in the cellar. like kdp150, i'm going to see what they are like 6-8 months down the road. Also, I just ran into one 4pack of Backwoods Bastard that my local corner store pulled out from the back!! Score!!!

There was a thread elsewhere that said the Founders people at the Breakfast Stout Breakfast in Massachusetts stated that the next Backstage (July) would be a fruit beer, and that the one after that (October/Novemberish?) would be something aged in maple bourbon barrels.

Taking that information and looking into their Backstage lineup, their first beer was a fruit beer (Blushing Monk, released in July) and the second was something aged in maple bourbon barrels (CBS, released in October). Do I think they'll be Blushing Monk and CBS again? No. But I find the pattern to be interesting, nonetheless.

Aforementioned post also stated that Black Biscuit would be made again in a few years. Don't hold your breath too long.

Had a Blushing Monk a week or two ago that was simply amazing (never had it fresh to compare though). Anything remotely similar would be great!

CBS was definitely the most wanted beer for the Backstage series. After that the next most wanted is Black Biscuit. Sad that they won't be giving it to us anytime soon.

My guess is that it's going to be barrel-aged speculation.

Not to be a dick, but it wouldn't actually be a pattern unless it actually happened again, in that order. Seems like a lot of speculation to me.
