Founders Next Backstage Release : Smoked Porter

I interpreted the brewery's news release that the bottles are Michigan-only, but kegs would make it to the entire Founders distro area.

I think the demand on this one will be dependent on the price, and I don't think that Founders can ask as much as their barrel-aged offerings. But I have not yet heard what the price will be. Whether I buy one will depend on reports of how smoky the beer might be. I'm not a lover of smoke beyond a faint hint, so I'm not expecting that I'll like it.

 

The Founders Backstage Series has officially hit rock bottom.

 

Sounds good, hope it is priced lower than other backstage beers, more than $8 and I probably wont be grabbing this one.

Color me surprised that this has turned into another founders hate thread...Im just stunned the 2nd post didnt complain about them not doing CBS or Black Biscuit...

 

It's funny that you nerds get behind the "we brew what we want" motto of Founders until what they want and what you want become misaligned. I'd rather have them expirement with new beers than just constantly rebrew CBS.

 

i'm behind their motto, but that doesn't mean we have to like every fucking thing they brew (and i haven't actually liked anything from the backstage series since better half). i personally despise most smoked beers (bo and luke was one exception) which is why i'm hating on it.

Likely the first BS series I won't purchase a bottle for myself; just for my out of state BA buddies. I'm not a smoked beer fan (I'll try it at the brewery though). I personally enjoy that Founders mixes things up. Would I buy a ton of CBS, you bet. However, I also enjoy the fact that I never know what they will do next and getting a chance to try new beers rather than the same old beers I've had. Over the years I've had CBS on 3 separate occasions, keep bringing the new beers Founders!

 

Yes! Truly a Christmas miracle! I didn't think we'd get another hate thread for Founders for at least another month.

Please, let us and Founders know what you like so they stop with that pesky experimentation! I'll stop drinking the others so they won't bother producing again due to low sales! Win win amiright?!

 

Sounds awesome. As a smoked beer fan, coming from a brewery with a great porter, I really hope I get to try it.

 

You guys are a bunch of whiny bitches, but that is nothing new. You don't have to like everything everyone releases. Move on, drink something else, and dont be a whiny bitch about it. I know, that is like asking water not to be wet.

I personally think this sounds great, and am looking forward to it.
