And to answer you question more appropriately, you said something to the effect of 'being lazy and them only being 15 miles away'. Feel better? Still assume I'm suggesting you being 'greedy' or anything of the like?

There are some similar notes there from the wheat wine they did in maple bourbon barrels a while back. Felt the barrel was more well done in Pam than in the sweet repute.

Yeah, that's the one. Still coming off a bit harsh though.

You must have gotten some weird Black Tuesday bottles.

I found this started with some sweet maple, not much barrel, but it finished with this unpleasant woody bitterness. As many have said this will probably age really well

Found in MA - thinking to let it sit for a few months.

When posting your opinions - please include whether you tried it warmer or cold. Not sure which way to go.

I could say the same. Either way, have a good one and enjoy your beer.

I had PAM, CBS, KBS and BB all at the same time at Founders a few weeks ago. CBS and PAM were very close. KBS was by far the worst of the 4.

I have actually yet to be impressed by an aged beer over the fresh version.

KBS seems to improve a bit from fresh after about 6 months, at least it did this year

I opened the bottle, set it on the counter, and drank it over the course of two hours. I didn't like the bitterness throughout the pour. The maple bourbon aging and dark malts definitely teased a bit at me, like a thin hoppy version of CBS. Looking forward to remembering that I put a bottle away, in about a year from now.

Has everyone more so been drinking this cold initially or warmer? I tend to drink BA beers at room temperature, and IPAs from the fridge. I got a bottle yesterday I'll be trying soon.

It definitely gets better as it warms, IMO. Maybe like 45-50 is the sweet spot? Slightly cooler than room temp...

    YES.

When cold, it had a sweet fake cough syrup bite up front, and then as it warms in your mouth it mellows into maple bourbon goodness. Much easier to just let the whole glass warm to that temp prior to drinking.

Anyone in Metro Detroit have a bottle they can let go? I couldn't find any and don't know if Founders is going to do the 2-3 releases like Bell's did with Hopslam this year.

I can get behind pretty much every beer style there is with few exceptions and "and black IPAs" is definitely one of them. Tastes like a beer that can't figure out what it wants to be

I am by no means a black IPA fan but this really wowed me. I've had a plethora of founders offerings over the years and this is at the top. I think the maple syrup/bourbon notes came together much better than bottled cbs and were close to better half. Draft wise, Kaiser curmudgeon clearly trumps all but this was just delicious. I am very content with the limited demand for this as I've been picking up bottles every time I grocery shop.

Still not in SF or at least that I know of, holla if you see it and I'll do the same.
